Highly recommended. Great classy compact internet radio/ player
Highly Recommended. Great compact internet radio. Quality construction and classy retro looks. Reliable WiFi and Bluetooth connections.Having owned UE squeezbox and Roberts 83i. This beautiful little radio is 3/ 4 times smaller, yet has a very clear acoustic. Great for voice and respectable and fairly loud without distorting for most types music. Obviously it’s a Brennöls, so also a designed as a CD ripper / MP3 player. Highly Recommended

Really good
I love this extremely compact yet impressive unit. I take it all over with me. It's so small yet packs a big sound. Best above 22 on the volume as it really kicks in. A cracking thing.

Awful
Don't know if this is still current, had mine a year, and really wanted to like it.Turns out to be a pile of half baked rubbish. Glitchy software, poor interface, need to buy a separate headphone socket!! The list goes on.Support is done the lazy way via a forum, and woe betide you if you dare to criticise the product, ranks of pathetic Brennan worshippers will try and bully you and tell you the product is perfect and you are a techno-dunce.Waste of money, just about makes an expensive paperweight.

Disappointing overall from usage to sound
I appreciate this review goes against the majority here! But I assure you it's an objective one with comparisons to other radios from other reputable brands.Firstly my unit arrived with multiple phones already paired in the Bluetooth device list so I can only assume it's a return which was sealed back up and sold as new. Naughty for something this expensive and a bad start.Secondly the sound, it is definitely loud but thin and harsh sounding with no tone. The woofer does not kick in until after 50% so you then get a punchy thin sound. All preset EQs tried and tested..same result, would benefit from customisable ones. I don't agree with the other reviews at all regarding sound I'm afraid.Third, this was not an advertised feature but a strange omission; no facility to play from Dlna, NAS, upnp etc..Have to put on music on built in sd card. It's meant to be a specialist internet radio.Lastly the interface is very slow, even with latest update..delay in changing screens from sections and its so slow that even in standby the clock seconds sometimes skip i.e 1,2,5,7.Plus points is the size, it's quite dinky and compact, battery life not bad, 8 hours from a 10000mah battery pack.In conclusion the fact they repacked a returned unit and sold as new set the tone for a less than average radio.

Great internet radio, poor battery life
I've wanted a portable internet radio for some time so that I no longer have to rely on a bluetooth speaker linked to my laptop. The BB1 provides mostly what I wanted. I can now use a single device to access 20 internet radio stations (including all the BBC stations) and control them from the device itself rather than having to go back and forth to my laptop and access bookmarked stations to project them to my bluetooth speaker. The BB1 is reassuringly heavy, has a great retro design (wood and fabric) and doesn't suffer from transmission interference. The sound quality is excellent too. However, there are some negatives:Battery life is very poor. I put 4 brand new AA batteries in and after a few days of occasional use, the radio now switches off. It's fine when plugged into the mains, so I don't think it can be anything other than the battery drain. I've only tested it with a couple of youtube videos so most of the use has been setting the radio up and playing internet radio, so that's ery disappointing. The mains connection is through a very short mini USB cable with a mains adapter plug, but I recommend getting a longer one if you don't want to limit where you can put the radio. The other negative is the relatively poor quality instructions. You get a leaflet but it's ambiguous in places and does seem to assume some degree of internet expertise which many may simply not have. Here's a quick guide that might be helpful:1. Put batteries and/or power cable in and switch on by pressing the power button. It takes a few seconds to for main screen to appear after the Brennan logo disappears.2. Press the big volume knob to access the menu system and then dial it down to Settings and Tools. Click the button to select Set up WiFi. Select your home network and put in your WiFi password.3. Use the back button to exit menus when network detected.4. When connected, the screen will show an IP address at the bottom left hand corner...type this into your address bar on your computer/laptop and it should take you to the Brennan page for your specific radio. Here you can set radio channel presets, load youtube videos etc. This only works while the radio is powered ON, so always turn your radio on before trying to access the UI page on your laptop. Once you've accessed your UI page, it's worth setting a bookmark for it to save having to type the Ip address in each time.Basically, that's it. You can set up everything on your laptop and it automatically changes the radio's internal settings.Always turn the radio off before taking batteries out or unplugging power. You may lose pre-sets etc if you don't.Overall it's a great device, and would be better if batteries lasted longer and the power cable was a little longer.Maybe rechargeable batteries are the solution.

Cracking wee music player / internet radio
I've uploaded just over 1,400 tracks from my MacBook Pro, set up several playlists and about a dozen preferred internet radio stations using the Web User interface. It was a piece of cake to add to my Wifi, then I just typed in the IP address displayed on the front panel into the browser on my Mac and away you go - adding music, renaming artists that my computer had as 'Compilations', downloading album art, assigning preferences to the three preset buttons on top, adding a £6 USB DAC and plugging it into my Valve amp when I want a bigger sound, listening to my music or R4 over t'internet working from home. This combines every single thing I've been trying to do through dedicated internet radio devices, my iPhone, bluetooth speakers etc etc.Battery life isn't bad considering what its doing, I managed two days of throwing music at it over Wifi, downloading artwork for albums, setting up play lists over Wifi, testing the iPhone app on it, testing it as a bluetooth speaker, and probably several other things I've forgotten about, using a set of 4 Amazon cheap as chips Alkaline AA batteries. Not the usage I'd get on my Sony FM radio, but then it's just playing the radio, not displaying album art etc :)Solidly built, actually quite a rich tone at low volumes - definitely listenable and enjoyable - get's a bit distorted at the top of the volume when I have Rammstein playing, but then that's what I have the DAC and Valve Amp for :)Brilliant enjoyable wee bit of kit
