Tasty Fresh Recipes
Love this book. Borrowed it from the library and knew I had to have it!These are the things that had me hooked:* When one thinks of French food the first thing that comes to mind all the rich fatty foods. Calder does use a bit of butter and wine but I would say they are balanced out by lots of vegetables and lean meat or fish.* Generally uses ingredients that can be found at the local grocery store.* Lots of tasty vegetable recipes, like her `Glazed Radishes' .. yum! Helps me to cook what is in season.* The recipe index lists recipes according to ingredient making it very easy to use.* Recipes ingredients are generally short.

Delightfully Engaging as well as Delicious
I love the conversational manner with which this is written. As well as the down to earth helpful information regarding basic issues as How to Eat, How to Shop, How to Cook, How to Feed and How to Make a Glass of Water. Some recipes are quite familiar and some are unique. Laura Calder makes even Beef Bourguignon easy to make and extremely delicious! The pictures throughout the cookbook are spectacular! I believe that this is a cookbook that I can and will cook several of the recipes from rather than one or two!

Cookbook fan
The hardcover is so much better than her paperbacks, which include no photos. I just do not understand why her books are not availablefor sale anymore especially when she was on the Food Channel. I really enjoy the simplicity and stories behind her recipes.

A fantastic accompaniment to Mastering the Art of French Cooking
A fantastic accompaniment to Mastering the Art of French Cooking. Laura is a legitimate French cook, not a knock off. You'll learn a great deal of French cuisine from her.

Lovely
Laura Calder has a simple and elegant way of writing recipes that are very clear and easy to understand. Yet what's even more important is that they are extremely delicious too. I highly recommend it.

Another terrific Laura Calder volume
If you enjoy watching "French Food at Home", then owning Laura Calder's books is a "must". She is the same person in print...not automatic, by the way. The same engaging one-on-one style comes through. She always communicates that you really CAN make these dishes, and encourages you to try new things.Being in the U.S., her books are hard to find and sometimes quite expensive. Cheers to Amazon.ca for making them available at good prices!

Love Laura Caulder
This book is a no nonsense cookbook and is a great companion to her show French Food at Home. Unlike the the some other shows =that are on Food TV she is unpretentious and very entertaining. Food TV needs a new TV editor one who is interested in airing people that want to teach cooking and now show all of the crap. NBK and the likes are obnoxious no less. What good is a cooking show if it does not teach cooking. That is the reason I did not like the Galloping Gourmet. We had to order the book from Amazon Canada because it was not available stateside.

Nice Companion to the Televsion Show
I like cookbooks to give me a sense of place and/or occasion along with relatively easy to produce recipes. This book does so. I enjoy seeing Laura Calder make the recipes on the show, French Taste at Home, and this book acts as a memoir of the episodes, as well as being a well-rounded stand-alone cookbook.
