A very good book¹

I bought this edition thinking it had newer content than the red cover edition. Both exactly the same, but the text font is blurred in some location in this edition, so I returned it. If you can find a copy of the red cover edition, the font in that version is crystal clear.

This is my favorite matrix structural analysis book. It contains the basics anyone needs to understand the matrix displacement method and FEM. I have used this book many times in conjunction with the "Handbook of Structural and Mechanical Matrices" by Tuma to develop custom structural analysis programs. No, this book does have the latest development but it provides a firm foundation in the understanding of the math, assumptions and techniques required.

I have a previous edition of this book from Dover again, but the time and use have left their sign on it. So, I decided to buy this newer edition offered by Dover. This book is a gem of the field, and this doesn't change. What changes is the quality of the new edition, and I want to warn the candidate buyers for the quality of the edition. The new Dover edition is of much lower quality than the previous one: the paper is very thin and you see the content of the opposite page, which is quite annoying. The binding is of very low quality, already in my book the PREFACE page the binding started to get damaged. And, many leaves are glued together in the corner. In addition, in my book there is a damage in the upper left of the front of the book, which I am not sure that is a matter of quality of the edition, or caused by handling during transport.

El libro llegó en perfectas condiciones. El contenido del mismo es bastante bueno y útil para comprender el análisis estructural matricial.

Un testo completo. La materia è esposta chiaramente. Ottimo anche il formato del libro, facilmente consultabile. Il costo è congruo.

This book is the best for getting the matrix method concepts. Paper quality is awesome.

Best Book on Stiffness Method

Utile soprattuto la prima parte introduttiva e riepilogativa dei teoremi energetici. Consigliato come start-up per poi passare ad approfondire FEA e per ristudiare Meccanica dei solidi ed elasticità. Ottimi esempi applicativi. Spiegata molto bene l'assemblaggio delle matrici di rigidezza. Ovviamente ci sono testi più aggiornati.
