it was still a good book and very interesting to read
Though not what I expected, it was still a good book and very interesting to read. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, is that when purchasing it, I figured it would include rules for playing old time games, but it only tells of games played in times past, with little hint of the rules they played by. I was hoping to use the information bring back some of the things I had heard the old timers telling about while gathered together at Sunday dinner, or on Holidays, but there was not enough information within the pages to re-introduce these old time favorites.

Hilarious History of Human Sports
Hilarious and informative. Humans are crazy, curious creatures. I imagine many of these sports were designed from boredom.

Hysterical Reminder of our Stupid Past Sports
Bizarre book. Fox Tossing? Picture titled nobility in the so-called Age of Enlightenment, a giant slingshot, and one utterly terrified fox. You'll laugh, you'll cry at the cruelty of some of these sports, and you will wonder who was stupid enough to start auto bullfighting. Not to worry, the bulls were too smart to go after a matador in Model T.

A perfect reminder that humanity was humorously insane long long before us
Whimsical and, in many ways, educational. A perfect reminder that humanity was humorously insane long long before us.I've even gone so far as to attempt a few of the "sports" listed. One could say this is the pre-history of "Jackass".
