Does the job well, but develops hard crystals and air pockets with time - read my review for solutions
I'm using this for my MacBook which doesn't have any fan, so the casing can get quite hot with long heavy use such as video editing. The Neo pad does a great job of absorbing the extra heat from my MacBook, which makes it much more comfortable, and also makes it run faster for long jobs (the MacBook will slow down if things get too hot). However, the pad contains crystals that liquify under heat, and these recrystallize quite hard in dark patches when they cool down again. That looks ugly and leave the pad uneven, making my MacBook wobble. It also leaves air pockets where the MacBook was the hottest, preventing it from cooling it again at the spots where it needs it the most. I found I could soften and redistribute the crystals again just by putting the pad in tap hot water for about 5 minutes and then cool it back down under cold water while massaging it a bit. It works well, the pad's crystals get redistributed and stay softer, but but it's a pain.I found a much better way that make the pad work wonderfully though, but be warned, it's hacky. Using a syringe and very small needle, I replaced all the air with water and then sealed the pin hole with solid tape (I used clear hockey tape). My pad now stays soft and cushy all the time, hard crystal and air pockets never form, even after heavy use, and it cools my MacBook even better! This transformed my pad from a poor product I would have returned to a fantastic cooling pad. I'm not sure why the manufacturer never did that to start with; if they would have, they'd be getting five stars.

Despite other claims, it does work.
I don't love it as much as my original, but it does the job. Some people claim it makes problems worse, but I've used these kind of cooling pads and it accomplishes 2 things: it keeps the normal vent clear by raising the laptop some (which needs all the help it can get since Apple cooling designs generally stink), and it adds some airspace so the laptop is touching some pockets of air. They may help only a little, but it kept my 2011 Macbook pro from destroying it's discrete graphics chip for 6 years. In fact, it wasn't until I lost my original pad that I lost the graphics chip. Most people didn't even get 6 years out of their chips since that model ran so hot. This one isn't quite as good as the original, but it is workable.

keeps your lap cool, about the same as a fan one
keeps your lap cool and keeps your laptop slightly cooler. Doesn't seem to melt as much as the other name brand out there. Perfect for 13" laptop. It's under your laptop, so color probably won't be seen by others. Weighs around the same as a fan based laptop cooler, so I guess it's personal preference. I wish it was stiff on one side, to allow it sit flatter on my two legs, so for that, and the fact that it doesn't cool as well as my fan one, took off two stars. I purchased it very cheap, around 1/5th of the cost [or more] that I would of spent on a fan cooler, so added a star and got to 4/5 stars.

Does good job with if you give it minore support.
As long as you don't expect miracles it will do its job. If you would like it to last longer try putting it in fridge. Only down side i could make a suggestion for is after it starts to warm up it will obviously start to sag around unsupported areas, so i would place something under it to support it and keep it up against what your trying to cool off. Also don't leave it in a hot car lol. If you do make sure you put it on a flat surface before it cools and apply milde pressure to even out the material inside.

Weirdly lumpy, but helpful
I purchased this pad to keep my laptop from sizzling my lap during the long, hot summer, and the LapSaver Laptop cooling Pd worked pretty well for that. I wasn't expecting it to be so lumpy -- the phase change gel to crystal formulation is uneven across the pad, so there are some parts that get pretty squishy, and others that are hard lumps, but it does not affect usage at all. It did cause me to call the manufacturer to ask if that was supposed to happen. MIght have been helpful if they had some explanation of that in the package. It was a very hot summer, and I use my laptop for seven or eight hours a day. This laptop saver was a big help.

Not bad, Not superb
It helps, I can definitely notice a difference. but it's not as a big of a difference as I was looking for, but it will definitely do in the mean time. I got it because I like to play World of Warcraft and Sims 3 on my macbook pro and it tends to get a bit hot at times when I'm playing those. If i remember to put it under right as I start playing it works much better than putting it under when it starts to feel hot. Dunno why, but it does. So if you're looking for just a little something, this is for you, if you're looking for something a little bit more heavy duty you may consider holding onto your dollars and continuing your search. Overall I'm content with it.

So-so, but I would pass knowing what I know now
It's okay. Once the laptop has heated the cooling pad, then the cooling pad is hot and there isn't any leg protection or cooling being done for the laptop or my legs. My only workaround for using it on my lap is to rotate the cooling pad as it gets hot. It does have a crunch sound and feel to it until a heated section heats up.. It does flex. If I had kept the packaging, I would've returned it. Meanwhile, I'll be using the cookie rack/grid when I use my laptop on my desk that my friend suggested today, and look around for a cooler lap option. (I've had this for a few weeks now.)

so this makes for a great portable cooling pad if you don't want to lug ...
I thought the "neoprene sleeve" was part of the cooling pad, so I bought this thinking it was a pad that doubles as a sleeve. However, it's just a pad with some crystals that melts when it absorbs heat, distributing heat away from the macbook. The pad is thin enough so that I could carry both the laptop with the pad in the same Herschel sleeve, so this makes for a great portable cooling pad if you don't want to lug around a cooling fan type.
