Great for Math, Average for English
One thing I can surely say is that the math practice in the this book is great! What McGraw-Hill does, is that they separate all math sections into small exercises. Unlike other SAT review books, you are given more opportunity to solve the questions for yourself and then check if your answer is correct. I really loved the small exercises in each sections as they helped me narrow down my weak points in math. If your weakness in the SAT is the math section, I would highly recommend this book!In terms of the reading, and writing and language section, the book is pretty average. It has a list of vocabulary words that would be good to know, but are not necessary for the SAT. Personally, I did not like the reading approach to the SAT in the book. All in all, it is a good book to prep for the SAT, but it may not be the best as sole resource for SAT prep.

Best book for the new SAT by a mile
Trying to help my daughter prepare for the new SAT next March, I reviewed all the currently available books after analyzing requirements of the redesigned. This book is the best by a mile. The others - Kaplan, Princeton, Ivy Global, Barron's - are incomplete and voluminous. They have many pages because they contain stuff for the old SAT and their page utilizations are about 50% (half of the page is empty). One page of material is stretched to two pages; they are ripping off parents and students: someone has to pay for the extra paper. My daughter loves it for she feels that it prepares her for the videos on Khan Academy, which provides excellent practice for mastering a topic but requires some proficiency in the topic.

Practice math tests are best suited to high scorers
I am a private math tutor and purchased this book because it got so many favorable reviews. I only looked at the practice tests and only the math sections so my review is limited (others have commented on the general review portion which comprises the bulk of the book). In my opinion the practice tests in this book are more difficult than what can be expected on the new SAT (though it is anybody's guess at this point). I intend to use these practice tests for stronger students seeking very high scores. Also, I found a small error on the last problem on page 581. The solution on page 603 of the book is based on a 45 degree angle, but the angle in the problem on page 581 is 44 degrees. Therefore the solution and answer key are incorrect.

I don't like this edition quite as much as the old one
I don't like this edition quite as much as the old one. It's a small thing, but the pages with the practice tests aren't shaded on the edges anymore. Also, I don't like the vocab section as well. I loved the old format with smaller sections of roots and words with worksheets after each 7 lessons. I know there aren't vocal questions anymore per se, but a strong word base is even more important than ever in the reading section. Finally, I don't feel the sections are broken up as well for focusing on a particular area of weakness as they used to be.I am a professional SAT/ACT tutor so this is all from the perspective of focusing on individual students and not from an overall guide to use on ones own.
