Excellent, durable material for marine uses
I purchased a 1/2" thick sheet, 12" x 48" to fabricate a new bilge cover for our sailboat. After researching material options I found out about HDPE and it worked perfectly. Waterproof, highly durable, and easy to cut. I used a jigsaw with a blade designed for plastic and had no difficulty whatsoever. On some forums people complained about it melting back together after cutting, but I had no such trouble using the jigsaw with the proper blade. Just be sure to put down a dropcloth and expect a mess of shavings after cutting it. I was a little surprised that the sheet was so glossy. It's also much heavier than I expected. Seems very durable and resistant to bowing. I couldn't get a sheet with quite the proper dimensions to fully cover my bilge but I just cut a smaller piece from the scrap that seems to work.

five stars is not enough
I use this material for many projects, this sheet in particular was used to replace an old rotten "marine" plywood ski locker hatch of a bayliner capri. the old hatch would crack and bend every time I stepped on it and was scary to walk on. The top and bottom was painted but sides, drill holes, drain and handle holes were all exposed wood. The ski locker often has water in it that isn't picked up from the bilge pump, most of the time it enters through bilge drain fitting and backwashes into the bilgeInstead of wasting my time on plywood I used this material that will never rot, crack, break, or need to be refinished. It is slightly heavier than plywood but completely worth the extra cost and effort. To make the hatch I used double sided tape to stick the old hatch to this one, put it up on some blocks and then used a jigsaw to make the rough cut. I then used a large (1 inch cutting blade) router trim bit to make the clean cut followed by a 1/4 round bit to clean up the edge on the top side so that the sharp edge doesn't cut through the carpet. I then used outdoor marine carpet adhesive to glue the new carpet onto the hatch. A plastic spoon worked well for getting gobs of it all over the hatch and then a serrated plastic knife for spreading it evenlyTip #1, wear a mask when cutting the board. the shavings are heavy and don't really go airborne but depending on what you're using to cut it there will be some fumes given off, if you have any kind of breathing problems this might give you a hard time. Or use a fan and ventilate the area well when cuttingTip #2, when using router bits make sure to put some high strength thread lock on the bearing screws, it is very easy to lose a bearing when working with HDPE since it does resist and vibrate a lot more than wood when being cutTip #3, after the trim cut before rounding, take very rough sandpaper and go over the edge all around, this will result in a very clean round cutTip #4, practice on trimmed off pieces from jigsaw cut to make sure you have the correct depth, are using the right amount of pressure, and have the right speed. High speed tends to cause a lot of vibration which can cause you to lose a bearing, low speed will take too long and the cut won't be as cleanTip #5, setup a box out of cardboard around the material while it's being cut, cutting it makes a huge mess even with a vacuum line on your router. This way the cardboard will contain the mess in a small area for easy cleanupI almost want to make a silly statement like "why don't manufacturers use this in the first place?", but I think everyone who has worked on anything manufactured in the last few decades knows the answer to thatThis new hatch will easily outlast the boat and it's owner. I also ended up rebuilding the deck with a few layers of fiberglass mat followed by many very thick coats of epoxy. The deck is now far better than anything you can buy manufactured

Bag packaging, great product
I bought these HDPE sheets to line my chicken coop with before I put in their bedding. Never mind their bedding in this photo. It was really easy to cut and we were able to piece sheets together to get full coverage. My only issue with this product is they were very poorly packaged and one of my sheets was dinged and dented along the ends and another slipped entirely out of the package when I went to move it from my porch. Packaging aside, this product is incredible and well priced.

sturdy and odor-free
Odor free, and feels like HDPE food cutting mas I have had. Need it for the inside of a wooden shallow well cover where I did not want condensation dripping off wood or paint, or aluminum. This ended up being thicker than I anticipated, but that isn't the materials's fault, it's mine. I thought at 1/16 thichness I was getting something that would roll up and be able to be cut with scissors, like the food cutting mats I use (chop veggies then fold up mat to help pour contents into pot or bowl.). I think rolling hdpe might be 1/32" thickness, because while 1/16 was a little bit flexible, I had to use a saw to cut (not scissors, and it just bent in tin snips). It was pliable enough to attach with 3/8" stainless steel staples, though (certainly not rigid and cracking like an acrylic), so it worked well for my application.

Handy to have around
If you do woodworking, I strongly recommend that you buy this product. Rip to 3/4”, drill a pilot hole and countersink and you have a runner for jigs for anything with a standard miter slot for a fraction of the price that you have to pay for the ones already made. Why do you want such a big piece? One, when you discover how smoothly jigs made with HDPE work, you will find yourself making more than you had ever imagined. Two, you will constantly be thinking of now uses for this material. Strongly recommend!!!

Used for Camper Van Reno
Purchased this for a quick fix for the inside of the main door of our van. The old panel was wood panel. It was so beaten up. That door takes the most abuse. Took old panel off. Used it as a template. The HDPE cut easily with a jigsaw and the door looked fantastic in minutes.
