A stunning folding gymnastic beam 8ft long when unfolded and 4ft long when folded, making it easy to store. It is 4in wide at the top, the same as gymnastic beams in clubs, 3in high and 5in wide at the bottom making it extremely stable. Made from a wooden box section giving great strength, tested to 250kg. The top section of the beam is covered with 1/2in fire retardant foam. The finished beam is professionally upholstered with heavy duty fire resistance faux suede. All corners of the beam are sewn (not simply folded). Staples are not used on the top or side ends, only the bottom. We use a fire rated hinge, again to give the beam great strength. On each end we have fixed a 10mm natural rubber non slip foot. Please note this beam needs to sit on a level surface and should never be propped up to make it higher. Unsatisfactory
The base of the beam is too narrow and the covering fabric too slippery. I fitted wider metal feet which made it more stable but still not as good as the more expensive beams which are available.
