An excellent explanation of what the Neocatechumenal Way is about that leads to better understanding. In all eras the Catholic Church has received blessings of new "groups", "orders", "movements" and other associations which have resulted in the salvation of many. The Way is no different, they preach Jesus and Him Crucified as St. Paul did. As bearers of the good news they are persecuted from inside and outside the Church for being "different". Jesus said in the gospels to us to expect the same persecution and hardships that he had and more if we chose to follow him. The members of The Neocatechumenal Way experience these hardships every day because of their choice to walk. Making the choice to walk is made easy by experiencing the fruits of the Christian walk in our daily lives along with the blessings and encourangement of the last three vicars of Christ. The blessings of the last three popes and official approval by the Catholic Church is a testament that this Way is a true itinerary of Christian formation for this generation.

The reason is that it in fact a variation of Protestantism with a distinct "messianic jewish" flavor mixed in. Certainly it's theological view of the "Lord's Supper" comes from various ideas from 16th c. reformers. It claims to be "early Christianity" revived for modern times. To do so it spreads the protestant myth that Constantine corrupted the Catholic Church with Roman pagan rituals and "The Way" will purify those ancient accretions to the true faith Jesus Christ established. "The way" is different from mainstream Protestantism in that it is happy to coexist in a segregated form from the rest of the genuine orthodox Catholic Church. The Neocatechumenal way is a cult which exists mostly in Spain, Italy and Guam. As a cult it pretends to various cardinals and bishops that it is a regular good standing catholic organization, but behind their backs it preaches its heresies spreading them to the most desperate people with serious psychological trauma who do not know what Catholicism is at all. The Neocatechumenal catechists say that a well done "Way" is not meant to make better people (that would be a pretense fit for hypocrite Pharisees), but “worst” people, in order to make them conscious about their sinful nature, which is the only condition necessary to be saved (as it is taught by Martin Luther and Calvin).Let us await the day when the "Statues of the Neocatechumenal Way" will be added to the List of Prohibited Books of the Roman Catholic Church.
