Really good image quality and great sound. The film is a classic but is showing signs of age. The scene where Maverick first meets Charley now seems pretty much like sexual harassment- I guess the generation z cancellers will treat this like Gone with the Wind and try to ban it rather than accept it as a period piece

If you want jets flying around your living room then this is the film for you, plus its got a great sound track. Can't believe no one has seen this film so in that case this is the best your ever going to see the film to date, 4K looks awesome and as far as sound goes you better get on well with your neighbours. No 4K collection should be without this film.

Ever since the days of VHS i have used 3 films to test /show any AV equipment i have. they are Terminator 2, Top Gun and Star Wars. I have brought Top Gun on every format. Vhs, CD I, Laserdisc, DVD, Blu Ray, BD3D, and now 4K. Each of them have been a improvement on the previous version and when i purchased the 30th anniversary edition on Blu Ray it was amazing the colours were better and the grain was almost gone, it was like watching it for the first time.About 2 years later i decided to purchase the 3D version and it was a bit of a let down, not because of a poor Transfer or sound it was the picture, it had gone back to the grainy, poor colour of the previous versions.When it was announced that there was going to be a 4K restoration i was very interested and i watched out for the reviews and they were all good. I should have looked out for the language the reviewers were using. It was a 4K transfer from the actual film stock giving you a picture as good if not better than on its day of release. I was surprised that when the film arrived it was the same grainy version, now that it not to take away from the 4K transfer there was a slight improvement on the clarity and dolby atmos made a big difference in the sound.I know that there will be some purists out there who dont like their films to have DNR but sometimes it can enhance a film and i have heard reviewers on youtube moan about the 30th Annv edition saying it dosn't look like Top Gun.

Played in 4k on Sony PlayStation 5, which supports Dolby atmos. Happily PlayStation down converted sound to suit our 5.1 system.So we were able to enjoy this film in 4k ultra hd with surround sound. A truly awesome experience from the roar of jet engines to the soft dialogue. A thrill of a ride, this 80’s film stands up to time. We look forward to the sequel film

I have owned this film on several formats over the years and I can say this 4K UHD Blu Ray release is the best to date. The picture is fantastic but it is the new Dolby Atmos soundtrack that is the star of this release from the Ariel dogfights to the music soundtrack also the speech is crystal clear.There's a couple of new extras on the 4K disc but it's the movie you will be buying this for well worth an upgrade from the standard Blu Ray.

Awesome now it's in 4K HDR & DOLBY VISION with a DOLBY ATMOS soundtrack.. The effects are amazing the planes actually feel like they're flying overhead. The explosions will make any subwoofer shake the room. This is a movie everybody should have in their collection. For those who like grain in the movie.. There's just the right amount of grain onscreen Paramount have done an amazing job with this 4K update. Buy it..

Top Gun as you've never seen it. The colour and picture is massively improved. Comes with 4K and Blu Ray. The quality is amazing, the movie is everything you remember and more, and it even comes with special features and a 6 part documentary.(Note you will need a 4K blu ray player and a 4k tv is recommended for the 4k edition)
