6 Month Complete Review
6 month review. 4/11/2018 DeLonghi HCX9115E (unit) Please read all this review. This heater has changed my way of living with heavy garage traffic usage. I insulated my two car garage (for about 180 bucks) and found my own special way to mount it to the wall studs near the entrance to the attached garage. I covered all walls with expensive decorative 4x8 sheets 1/4th inch, to ensure fire protection. Its plugged into a 20 amp outlet i ran near it. I keep perishables and water along a wall of shelving on the far side of the garage. "Emergency food" in previous years the freezing conditions eventually explodes the product or causes it to freeze. Or makes your garage unbearably cold! If you pull your car in it releases a lot of stored heat, and the unit must kick back onto full blast to reheat. Like opening your front door to the house. I keep it on power saving mode and this has been "on" for over 6 months straight through winter. It kept my entire 2 car garage about 50-65 degrees. But set for 65 during winter in Ohio. Even when it was -8 outside it still performed admirably. Although it is not enough BTU's nor is it designed for this usage but has passed my "test" of doing 'passive power saving heating' this recent winter stress test has really proved to be a strong unit. It has dual fans on the sides pushing airflow in, allowing more heat out the top. Sometimes these fans are off, or on depending on demand. During extreme cold times I select a mode that allows it to draw ALL the power it wants..the 1500 watts. Max power usage and fans on. Obviously this will use a lot of power. There are 10 options :4 Power saving modes (4th has fan on) :4 Energy full draw modes (4th has fan on) :on :off There is also a timer however I have not used this option. You can set the temp desired and energy mode is complete silence. Full draw is obviously a fan full speed type mode. louder.. Most heater units have a internal coil like an electric stove and a fan placed in front and when there "on" its like your microwave on drawing heavy wattage. This unit has a thin strip of mica or rock like substance in the middle with coils running along the axis, heating the coils causes heat transfer to the "mica", a very consistent heating, the air lofts up through it and out the top allowing cold/warm exchange. Be sure you do not expose this top part to paper or insulation or plants or pictures (i covered my wall with full sheets) as the heat is about 90-110 degrees but distributes heat quickly. Placing this unit in your living room is ideal but be sure your outlet is a 20amp as this is suggested. Leaving this on all winter will likely reduce the amount your heater is running and may even trick your thermostat thinking the house is warmer then it is. This unit can be placed behind a couch on provided stands or on a wall with struts on the carriage (I used a 1/2x4x48inch poplar wood along studs 15 1/2 centers, level, screwed in. Then this is screwed into the wood allowing mounting between studs using very high quality "star" bit screws, i threw away the provided screws as they were inferior.). At the top i used provided mounts however....... I zip-tied the holes to the grill because the mounting holes are VERY difficult to align to the unit. They ask for 24 and 5/8ths or something ridicules to get right on, so the zip ties allow easy install. ***Perhaps largest rooms or entry ways during thanksgiving or busy visiting cold times is best***. it may be best suited for office entrances like Doctors offices, or entryways during winter. This does not BLAST heat into the room but is a passive heater. Do not expect more. it will adjust the heat neded based on incoming temperature. Thanks all for reading to the end i hope this helps! Thumbs up please!

Capable of heating in complete silence or utilize the fans to speed up and increase the area heated.
I chose to get this DeLonhi heater because we planned on using it in the living room where it would be visible to us and our guests. I've currently installed the legs for it to stand on but plan on mounting it to the wall where its sitting in my pictures. The legs are plastic and stable but I'm not sure of their durability if you were to say lean on the heater. The white casing is all metal and the black mesh on the sides is metal as well. There are some black plastic handles on the sides towards the top of the heater. Immediately when the heater is turned on you will feel the heat radiating out the top. As you cycle through the low/med/high you will increase the heat that will radiate out the top. It's not until you turn on the 4th highest setting that the fans will kick on and blow air out the left and right sides. Its a gentle air flow that I can feel with my hand about a foot away but certainly not 2 feet away. I can feel the heat radiating up to 3 feet out of the top when placing my hand above it. Noise level with the heater radiating without the fans on is completely silent aside from the heater contracting when it heats up. Once the fans are used its about as loud as any heater that uses a fan or in my personal experience about as loud as my gaming desktop's fans. For some reason when the heater is using the fans it vibrates and makes a droning noise. Perhaps using a rug or some rubber beneath the legs would remedy this. Also I'm concerned once mounted to the wall it will also make the droning noise. I'll update once I've tested that. I really appreciate the sleek design and the the fact I can use use the heater in complete silence. Also with the eco mode is awesome if you wan't the heater to manage a set temperature. Overall my initial impressions are very positive. I'll certainly update once I've experienced its effectiveness at heating my living room and my experience with it being mounted to a wall. Hope this address some of your questions and concerns.

Stylish & Functional...A very good choice
After some research, I chose this DeLonghi slim style heater for our 14' x 20' den. There is a 12' wide double sliding door unit that leads to the backyard, and it makes heating this room with our oil burner/baseboard heating system a bit of a challenge. I purchased this heater, not so much to reduce our heating oil bills, but to make this room, where we spend most of our time, more comfortable during the winter months (which are VERY cold here in NY). I've had this heater for only 2 days, and here are my preliminary observations: 1) After reading about "tempering" the heater before first use, I ran it on the highest setting outside for about 3 hours (I read that this helps to burn-off whatever lubricant the manufacturer uses to keep these from rusting while stored in their warehouse). People complain about a smell from these heaters, and this "tempering" seemed to do the trick. There was still a minor smell, but not a problem. You may want to run this heater outside or in a garage for more hours than I did. 2) The look and style of this heater is awesome (of course, that is very subjective). It's pretty large, but has a very thin footprint, so placement near/against a wall works very well, and makes it fairly unobtrusive. It does not get hot to the touch. 3) My first concern was that I only have one wall outlet located within reach of the 6' power cord. It's a 15-amp circuit, which would be ok for this heater if it's the only thing on the circuit. However, I have a few lights, and my home theater system (TV, a/v receiver, cable box, and powered subwoofer) on the same circuit. I plugged in the heater, pressed the power button (half-expecting to trip the circuit breaker), but it didn't trip. I progressed through the modes on the heater, and kept the highest heat setting (plus fan) on. Everything went well through yesterday and today...no power issues...and I continue to check the power cord and connection at the outlet, and they are not warm at all. I will be getting a price from an electrician to run a separate 20-amp line to the den, specifically for the heater, but for now, all seems good. 4) Now for the main thing...the heat. Everyone's home is different. Everyone's room application for this heater is different. Our den is not the best insulated room, and that "wall of glass" does not do a great job of keeping the cold out. That said, I placed this heater at one end of the room, set the thermostat on 82, and let it run on high. The heater, even with the fan blowing, took at least an hour to start to take the edge off the cold in the room, and after a couple of hours, the room was comfortable...not super-warm...comfortable (which is all we are looking for). That was last night when the outside temp was around 25 degrees, and today, with 15 degree weather, the same heater setting took a little longer, and didn't quite heat the room as well...but it definitely helped. From what I understand, these convector heaters are not designed to heat a space very quickly. If that's what you want, I suggest checking out quartz heaters. I hope this helps. Good luck.

EXCELLENT QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE
I'm not a review writer but I am about this product. This unit is solid and the quality is excellent. This is not some china off brand. It is more expensive than other comparables, but you get what you pay for. The heating and touch control perform very well. It took me buying a lesser priced unit (which I returned) to really appreciate this one. Five stars.

Defective or just poorly designed, not sure which
I was pretty excited about this thing, or as excited as one can be about a space heater, anyway. I bought it because of the great reviews, the ability to wall mount, and the low profile. It was going to be supplemental heat for a 500 square foot living room/kitchen that gets chilly in winter. Outside temperatures were around 30-55 degrees at time of use. There is another heat source in the room that can't quite keep up in colder weather. Before turning this heater on, room temperature was around 64 degrees. It never made it to the wall. I set it up to free stand first, cranked that puppy up, set it to 67 (F) and put it on the ECO setting, full power with fan. Well, it radiated a little bit of heat, but the fan never came on no matter how cold the room got. It managed to raise the temperature about two degrees, then shut itself off with the (HT) symbol, indicating it had overheated. It was pretty hot to the touch, including the side that would have been against the wall if I'd wall mounted it as planned. I tried taking it off of the ECO setting. On high with the fan, it went a few hours longer and raised the temperature a few more degrees before shutting itself off with the HT warning again, but still never made it to 67. On the lower settings, it overheated even faster, I guess because the fan wasn't dispersing the heat away from the device. I gave up and returned it, then went out and got a cheap oil filled radiator from the store. Within about two hours, I had to turn the new heater off because it was so warm in here. That $49 radiator is doing a better job, more reliably, than this expensive wall mount heater did.

So Far So Good
My central air heating broke down and at the worst time - at the start of my 5 day holiday weekend and this weekend was one of the coldest at below freezing. I ordered this immediately Friday morning and was able to receive it Sunday so was able to salvage some of my time off. It’s quite big but very thin. If you mount it on the wall, it would be best but having it stand is not too bad. It’s because there is a wide surface area, that makes the heat so instant because as soon as I turned it on to 76 degrees and mid- level, not even on high, I felt the heat. This made my room so toasty but my room is very small at 200 sq feet so not sure sure about bigger rooms but I felt this was an improvement over my central air since it is so big that it protrudes out of the wall and very noisy that I have to turn up the volume on my TV. This system made no noise whatsoever that I was scared it’s not working. I ordered the sister companion oil-filled radiator just in case and I don’t think I need to turn that on. That one is smaller and took a while to warm the warm up but it eventually it worked fine. What’s nice about that companion is the large wheels and make it very mobile if you need to move it around but it should come with a longer extension cord for mobility since you cannot use these things with an extension cord. You can, but it would require the extremely thick yellow generator cable which will take up a lot of space. The only thing I don’t like for this product are the buttons on the side which are very hard to see and use. On the floor, I have to kneel down to access. Would have been better on the top for sure and a remote would be nice, too.

I have a LOVE/HATE relationship with this heater!
First, I absolutely despise the controls, which are insane; most irritating is the way these controls 'work', which after 2 months of use, I still do not understand. Not straightforward or sensical in any way, with minus- and plus+ and red bars indicating I don't know what; OK I'll sit down once again and read the instructions. But WTF? Secondly these same small, black, indented CONTROL BUTTONS run down along the (very narrow) side of the unit, are awkward to reach, difficult to see ~ & are on the end from which the SHORT cord issues (we are advised NOT to use extension cord); therefore when the unit is plugged in to the outlet, the ability to see OR access the control panel is severely limited. Must turn on all the lights & sink to your knees in order to see the line of controls, the bottom one being about 4 inches from the floor. Have had to unplug/replug the unit in order to get these little controls to respond. Finally, it makes absolutely NO sense that the TOP of the heater SLANTS DOWNWARD TOWARD the BACK of the heater (which faces the wall) ~ and the heat issues from this slanted top ~ so the heated air HITS THE WALL instead of flowing into the room. Yes I could turn the thing around, but the 'back' has a label, 3 panels, and is quite obviously the unattractive back side. Why they didn't make the top slant into the room is beyond me ~ the wall doesn't need to be heated! On the positive side, it is nice-looking, has sleek, clean lines, is completely quiet, and it heats the room very well ~ ALL important qualities; so I remain torn on whether to kiss the damn thing or throw it out. I strongly suggest DeLonghi fire everyone who developed this heater ~EXCEPT whoever figured out the actual heating aspect, which is silent and works well. I kept all the packing materials and the box in the event I have to return it for repair or give it away.

Quick, effective, quiet heater
This heater was purchased to warm up my toddler's room. It is silent when using the 3 power modes and even when using the fan mode, it is still quiet compared to a small ceramic fan type heater I previously used. It is quick to heat up a medium sized room on the low eco mode and looks very modern and clean with simple to use options. The lock function doesn't work well for me and end up not using it. When you touch any button, the beep is quite loud and when the unit is plugged in and is off and on standby mode, you do hear a tiny quiet electric type noise but not nearly loud enough to wake anyone up. The cord coming out under the front of the unit is awkward and I do wish the cord came out the back of the unit. Has handles for easy moving. Overall I am quite happy with this heater and it is priced decently and would recommend this unit.

Exceeds expectations
Used to supplement the heat in our basement sitting room. Don't know it is there unless we pull out the plug, it runs so quiet not like the fan heater we used to have.
