Seems solid and folds down when not in use.
I docked a star because the installation instructions are terrible. Had to read the reviews and see what others did. Just be aware, some of the reviewers have done it "wrong" regarding where the spacers go. Definitely put a towel down on the roof of your car when installing. It's pretty awkward to get on, and it fell off my crossbar while I was trying to get it on and the bolts that stick out on the bottom put a nice deep scratch on the roof of my new car. Would be nice if they offered rubber caps for the bolts. Also, it works, but the section that clamps around the roof rack seems like it could be fit better-- the top part is all right angles, despite most racks being curved. So far, I've used the rack only once, but I was able to load a 12' Dagger Axis and 11' Dagger Zydeco at the same time, and haul them for a 170 mile round trip with no issue. And it has been nice to just leave the rack mounted and fold it down. It would be a bit of a pain to take the rack on and off regularly. The rack by itself does not seem to add much wind noise or have any affect on my mpg while every-day driving.

Sturdy and Easy to Install - Folds down!
I've used this product to transport 2 kayaks several times. I leave the rack on my car over the Summer months and then take it off in the Winter. Re-installing was super easy. There are several great tutorial videos online on how to easily strap Kayaks to the rack. I especially love that it folds down when not in use.

Good
I like them, bought different bolts because the ones they sent were too long. I was prepared for this due to other reviews. I like that I can keep them on my car

Used for storage
I place these on cinder blocks and store my 2 kayaks on them to keep them secure and off the ground. Works great.

Still Not a Universal Mounting Design - but Getting Closer
I am updating this review to reflect some significant improvements resulting from several communications with Ikuram. This kayak rack had some good reviews and was listed as a universal mount design. It also had some negative reviews from buyers for whom the rack did not fit on their vehicles. I decided to give it a try, since both our vehicles have factory aero racks: and unfortunately, it just didn't work for our application. The first shipment was delivered early, but to the wrong state. Ikuram addressed this quickly and sent another rack via expedited delivery. At first glance, the kayak rack looked good: size is good, features look good, aircraft aluminum is a nice appearance and should hold up. Installation instructions were sadly lacking, but it is pretty simple to figure out how this has to be mounted on the vehicle. That's where the issues began. The original rack sent to me is by no means a universal mount design. Our 2018 GMC Acadia has a factory rack with aero crossbars, but the bottom of the original kayak rack is clearly meant for a square crossbar. As a result, the bottom of the kayak rack only makes contact with the top of the crossbar at two points over the top of the crossbar. And that makes it impossible to securely position the kayak rack. I have attached a photo showing the bottom of the original kayak rack and the limited contact with the top of the factory aero bar. The "universal mounting adapter" that goes under the crossbar to secure the kayak rack from the bottom was even worse. The adapters are curved so as to fit a round or possibly square crossbar, which means on an aero bar they only contact the crossbar in a couple of locations. I have included a photo of this as well, although the reflection of the crossbar may make that photo confusing. What is clear is the shape of the adapter, which does not allow a tight fit to the aero bar. Our kayaks weigh a combined 104 pounds, which is well under the rated capacity of the kayak rack; but since the rack only makes contact with the crossbars at a relative few points, it seemed to me that it could be dangerous at highway speeds. I contacted Ikuram via the email address for Customer Service provided with the documentation accompanying the rack, and attached 3 photos of the installed kayak rack showing the limited contact with the crossbars. And here is where an update is needed, because the response to that and a subsequent communication via the website was a day or two slower than I thought it might have been. But Ikuram did respond, and provided excellent customer service. I primarily worked with Cyan, who first took my photos to the engineers to see what could be done to make this fit my application. Their newest design looked like it might work, so they asked me to return the rack at their expense and they sent the new design (at no cost to me!). The new design is a lot closer to a universal mount, and it was a lot closer to fitting our Acadia; but it didn't come close to fitting the OEM aero bars of our 2005 Yukon XL. The first two photos are the original rack on the Acadia. The third photo is the redesigned rack (you can see the taper at either end) on the Acadia. The fourth photo is the redesigned rack on the Yukon (the curve on that adapter has been modified to be less rounded). I should mention the top of the crossbars will be scratched by the metal being mounted directly on them. I believe there could be ways to adapt either rack to factory aero crossbars, but to do so would void the warranty. And Cyan indicated there will probably be another design improvement coming early next year. I suspect if this fit properly, it would be a very good kayak rack-the quality appears to be better than some of the big names in kayak racks, and if my experience is typical, the customer service is top notch. So several aspects of my initial review needed to be revised for the better; but sadly, even the redesigned rack won't work for us. Would I be willing to try yet another design improvement from Ikuram if I were still in the market for a kayak rack? In a word, "YES." They have demonstrated a willingness to work with the customer and a desire to manufacture a quality product. Since I wasn't able to actually use the rack, I could only give it a middle-of-the-road rating; but I suspect it would have rated higher if it had fit the crossbars of our vehicles.

Good, but it's work to install
UPDATE: I replaced the long clamp bolts with shorter ones and replaced the plastic knobs with nylon lock nuts. I also removed the black clamp plates completely, and it works fine.I have round crossbars on my rack, so some of my comments reflect that.- Mine did not come with any instructions at all. Fortunately, another user posted a photo that helped.- The gear mechanism that allows the bars to pivot up and down is made out of so-so plastic. I imagine it would be the first thing to break.- I don't fully understand the purpose of the black clamping plate if you are just going to use the rack for kayaks. It seems necessary for SUP boards and skis. But not for upright kayaks.- The installation for me was time-consuming and challenging. I could take both my Thules on and off in about five minutes. It took me at least 30 minutes to install these, and I am not inclined to take them off anytime soon. It would actually be easier to take off the whole rack with them attached. Which I might do in the winter.- Part of this is because of the plastic knobs used to clamp the device to the cross-bars. On round bars, you need to clamp the racks very tightly so they don't slide around. This means that the knobs need to be very tight—tighter than that you can do by hand. I needed pliers to finish the job, which took time. Large plastic or metal wingnuts would work much better.- Speaking of the plastic knobs, be sure to tighten your clamp plate knobs tight before installing the rack on the car Once on the car, accessing those knobs is tricky.- As someone else noted, the clamp bolts are a good 1/2" too long and sit a little close to your roof.- A black version would be nice.- My Thules had a little lip on the J hook that made it easier to slide the kayak into the J hook. These do not, so it's slightly more cumbersome.- I wish you could remove the paddle holder if you don't need it.- It does position your kayaks to the middle of the roof. So that means more reaching for those with tall vehicles.- Lastly, I notice several people looping the outside part of the strap through the kayak carriers, as in the manufacturer photos. DO NOT DO THIS. For maximum safety, loop the strap under your roof rack. The roof rack is a much stronger anchor point than the kayak carrier. Top of the loop on the vertical part of the carrier, bottom of loop around the roof rack cross bar.All in all, it seems sturdy, and I like the overall design. The installation is more cumbersome than it needs to be for those with round bars. Thule and Yakima have good clamp systems as comparison.
