Aural upgrade, portability downgrade
Greatly increases the capabilities of an already very impressive headphone. After living with the M-100 Crossfades for about 3 years I'd grown really accustomed to their unique sound signature (the "V" shape with sparkly highs and punchy lows) but noticed that as the default pads compressed further and further my ear was beginning to touch the driver. This lead to issues with an oddly shaped sound stage and some misdirection with the stereo imaging that caused sounds in the very center to sound as though they originated slightly off center. Instead of replacing the pads with another set of the default ones, I decided to order the XL replacements and so far I'm unbelievably impressed with the difference these make in everyday listening and the versatility these add to the headset overall. From the perspective of someone who is probably a bit more in love with audio in general than any one person should be, here's what you can look forward to: -Increased sound stage depth, probably a good doubling of the overall soundstage -The expanded stage does wonders for providing better audio separation, meaning you get a clearer picture of where each sound is originating from and significantly less bleed from one channel to the other. -Better fit, more comfortable for long periods of time; the default pads are very tight in comparison and often times would put your ear directly to the driver. These correct this, so the soreness from contact as well as the midrange fatigue from the treble being so immediate is completely resolved. All said the only real drawback is the inability to fold them down to fit in their case. While you can still do this for portability I would not recommend it as the foam seems incredibly malleable and seems to hold shapes more easily than most memory foam pads I've encountered, so compressing them will just make them thinner more quickly and you'll lose the openness that the deeper pads grant you. Finally, I've seen some folks say the bass and low end impact are adversely affected by these pads and honestly if they are it is incredibly minor and the increase in bass clarity more than makes up for it.

Made headphones sound and feel like new!
Ear cushions on my crossfade wireless were cracking and fading after 7 years. Bought these as just a replacement and didn't realize it was an upgrade. The larger openings and better construction just makes it more noise cancelling and comfortable on the ears. Seems it will last longer as well.

Excellent and easy replacement. Super comfortable!
Very easy to swap out the old pads and reinstall the new pads. Make the headphones feel like new again! Super comfortable. Will definitely reorder when I need new pads, but the last set lasted me nearly 10 years.

These Should Be the Standard Cushions
The title says it all. IMO, these should have been the standard cushions that came with my V-Moda Crossfade M-100 headphones. The V-Moda Crossfade M-100 headphones are advertised as "over-the-ear" headphones, but I am willing to bet that for the vast majority of folks they are at least partially "on-the-ear" when you use them with the original cushions with which they come. The original cushions are just too small for many/most ears to fit inside. So although the V-Moda Crossfade M-100 headphones sound very good - especially if you are a fan of headphones with a pronounced bass response - they can become quite uncomfortable if worn for an extended period of time. But for many people, these Extra Large memory cushions can remedy that. They did for me. They are a major improvement in comfort over the original cushions for someone with average or above average size ears. I can now wear these headphones for a long time - hours - without any problems. Furthermore, I could not discern any significant difference in sound quality. The headphones may have a slightly more pronounced upper bass response with these cushions, but it was difficult for me to say for sure. Frankly, I could not see any downside to these cushions, and a big upside in comfort. So I do not understand why these cushions are not standard. It was not obvious to me how I was supposed to remove the old cushions on my V-Moda Crossfade headphones so I could install these. I will not go into the gory details, but there are a couple of You Tube videos that show you exactly how to do it and which can easily be found with a keyword search, and I recommend you check them out before replacing the cushions. It takes a little work, but I was able to do it, so I think you will be able to do so, too. It is not a good feeling to pay $20 extra to get the cushions that your headphones should have had in the first place, and one might downgrade the rating on the V-Moda Crossfade M-100 headphones themselves for that reason. But I cannot see that as any reason to downgrade the rating on these cushions. These cushions make a vast improvement in comfort for me and I suspect they will do the same for many or most other folks. So if you already have the headphones, I highly recommend that you go ahead and bite the bullet and buy these cushions. I don't think you will ever look back.

Impressed! It makes a huge difference for the M-100!
I never thought a little addition like these XL earpads could make so much difference in the sound quality! I've been wanting to get this mainly to improve comfort on my V-Moda M-100 headphones because I'm an avid user (more than 5 hours a day, and sometimes up to 10 hours) and the original pads on the M-100 hurted my ears and head after only a few hours of use. Not only did these earpads make the headphones to feel a ton more comfortable, but it also significantly increase the quality of the sounds (particularly the soundstage). As an audiophile, the M-100 + XL earpads blew my mind while listening to nusic - it takes your listening experience to a whole next level. These earpads are very soft which makes it easy for it to conform around the ears a lot more comfortably. The building material of the outer cover of the pads are quite durable which made it easy to install (don't need to worry about tearing it apart by accident). Speaking of installation, it was a piece of cake: just pull out the original pad on one of the corners very firmly until you pop it out from the compartment and insert these pads starting from one corner and use your fingernail to fully insert it into the crevices of the earpiece. It takes about 5 min to install both sides. If you're having trouble, just search for an instructional video on YouTube. That's where I learned how. I highly recommend this products to audiophiles who own a M-100 and anyone who thought the original pads on the M-100 were uncomfortable. These XL pads really do make a difference, and you'll love it. Plus, it looks quite stylish as well. I like how the black pads look on my white M-100 (see the attached photos!)

Recommended for Crossfade LPs
I definitely recommend these to anyone who went from a pair of DJ-style headphones with large ear pads to the Crossfade LPs or M100s. The extra space inside them for the sound to spread out gives them that feeling that my old headphones had, not to mention it makes them 10 times more comfortable, and it prevents them from rubbing up against my big ol' ears :S I wear my Crossfade LPs a LOT and honestly, I should have bought these cushions when I bought the headphones... and I'm really questioning why I didn't at this point. Not sure if I can say I like the price for these... but if you had any problem with the way the old ear pads felt on your head, it's worth it. It took me maybe 5 minutes to take the old ones out and put these in (including time spent watching the V-Moda video that tells you how to do so), so it's not exactly complicated, but they went in securely, and I seriously doubt they'll fall out or anything in a lifetime or two. Overall, I'd say they were worth the price. BARELY... but still worth it. -If they fall apart in a month, I'll update my review accordingly.- *Update* 10/7/2014 - Still haven't fallen apart. They are very well broken-in, but still holding up nicely. No issues to report. -If they fall apart in a year... still gonna update my review accordingly.- *Update* 9/28/2015 - They have begun to peel slightly on one of the cups, but they aren't dissolving or anything like my old headphones' pads did. They are likely peeling due to the way I tend to "drag" them off my head. Also, they tend to absorb a lot of sweat, since they have a foam material inside, and are difficult or impossible for me to clean, but that's pretty much true with any cushions, I suppose. Keeping in mind I wear these for at least 5-6 hours a day, every day... they've been doing quite well, and I'd be willing to buy more if they begin to fall apart in the next few months. *Update* 8/9/2016 - Finally had to replace them as of ~5 weeks ago (and forgot to take pictures). Peeling and sweat-absorbing was too much for me, but after 2 years of wearing the things almost non-stop, I didn't expect them to last as long as they did. I wish they were SLIGHTLY thicker material, so they wouldn't begin peeling as easily/quickly, but otherwise, they held up great. The little leather on the top band of the headphones has begun peeling, so it's of about the same quality. Bottom Line: Expect ~2 years of heavy use out of these cushions, assuming you sweat quite a lot (wearing them while exercising is a bad idea). I ordered another set. Got the grey ones, this time. Hopefully they hold up just as well, but if they don't, I'll update accordingly. *Update* 7/2/2017 - The grey ones are still going strong after right around a year, and don't show signs of peeling or anything yet, so I think I can safely assume they'll last me just about as long as the last ones, at least. As the "Bottom Line" (which is... now above me, and no longer the "bottom" line) says, It's not unreasonable to expect ~2 years of life out of these, at least under the abused conditions mine tend to be kept in. Though I must admit, I've never cut or torn the pads before, so I'm not sure how much that would shorten the life if that occurs, since sweat and moisture in general would get in the foam and probably make it die faster. Just a thought/heads-up.

Skeptic turned believer!!!
I recently got the V-Moda Crossfade M100 headphones after a ton of research and was not disappointed! I also had read many reviews that I should invest in the XL pads. I did a trial run with the standard pads that come on the headphones. While the stock ones are very soft, I tend to have larger ears that protrude out. As a result, I found that my ear would press against the driver of the headphone and that the top and sides of my ears would become uncomfortable after approximately 30-45 minutes of wear. I decided to order the XL pads and give them a try. Man am I glad that I did!!! I was a little skeptical at first, because other than obviously being thicker, the circumference appeared to be the same. BUT... Once I put these pads on and placed them upon my head I was in pure headphone heaven!!!! The memory foam cushioning is very soft, and the deepness that these pads allow are soooooo comfortable! The circumference is bigger and my large ears have no discomfort what so ever even after nonstop wearing of up to 3 hours of playing videogames!!! It is like a cloud on my ears....the most dynamic, audiophilic, sound orgasmic cloud ever!!! If you are skeptical about these pads (I don't blame you because I was) I am here to reassure you and let you know that you will not regret this purchase at all!!!! These are a must for your v-moda headphones!!!

Worth your $20
I have larger-than-normal ears - I found the Sennheiser Momentums way too small for my ears. When I bought the M100s, the earcups were a little tight but otherwise comfortable so long as I didn't wear them for more than a few hours at a time (I have my Sennhesier HD 428s for that). Ordered these because I've seen numerous people claiming that they substantially improve the stereo imaging and comfort - and I have to say it's no lie. I listened through a few songs on the stock earcups before swapping them out and repeating with the new ones. First off, they are WAY MORE COMFORTABLE. If you thought the stocks were comfortable, these are like two soft pillows on your head. Secondly, they fix the slightly annoying issue where the tips of my ears may touch the drivers, making it slightly more uncomfortable to wear. These earcups are TWICE as deep as the stock ones. Thirdly, the sound has changed dramatically with these, although some may not like it. The bass has been slightly reduced (less boom, more punch), in favour of superior imaging (3D-ness) and the return of (some) mids. The treble also seems to be less harsh than it used to be (excessive cymbal crashes don't hurt my ears anymore), and the overall soundstage of every song I've listened to has just gotten wider. So I quite enjoy the new 'sound' that these produce. Getting the stock pads off was a pain as it felt like you were going to rip the pads apart, but once you get them off installing the XL pads is fairly straightforward - just make sure the plastic ring is clipped into all the tabs. Overall I'm quite impressed with this purchase - it made my M100s ten million times more comfortable, and improved the already near-perfect sound of the M100s. Five stars.
