As reggae compilations go, this 2CD set is EXCELLENT! Sugar and his backing band showcase why he is one of the BEST reggae artists. Unfortunately he has passed unto Zion, but I & I can witness his presence through Jah music. Seen.............

as one who has just recently turned his attention to the work of sugar minott, i have to say that this anthology contains song after song of real quality, and importantly, real variety! we have sugar plying his trade on roots, conscious roots, lovers rock, dancehall and some (semi) digital tunes, the latter being subject to the only drop in standards on show, but even amongst those there a a couple of gems, not enough negativity to take the shine off what is a vibrant and crucial collection. v.p. records compile these anthologies as broadly as they are able, and in some cases are a great illustration of a singer/player/producer's career.not being completely ignorant of his canon, i was pleased that one of the all-time great feel-good tunes ever, 'good thing going' is included, a genuine chart smash and timeless classic. i am also familiar with the conscious 'slice of the cake', and one or two others, but excellence is apparent throughout. of all the sub genres in his armoury, i have to say that he really excelled in the field of lovers rock, his voice perfect for conveying the lover's message to the laydees.there are a great number of his recordings which i now feel compelled to look into, but for now, it's never too late to be late for the feast!

Great collection of Sugar Minott's tunes from back in the good old days.Well worth it for "Christmas Time",which is one reason I had to get this set.Just shows how great Sugar was towards everyone very sad lost.RIP.

cant rate this album enough. some of the tunes of the 1970's that show how much of an artist he is. not only the words but some of the best reggae tunes ever written. a must have for any party
