... these reviews saying only beach body coaches give the good reviews and they concerned me and I trolled around ...
I had to leave a review because when i was thinking about buying this recipe book there were all these reviews saying only beach body coaches give the good reviews and they concerned me and I trolled around online wondering if i should invest or just get some recipes off of pinterest. Well, now that I've only had the cookbook for a few days I can tell you - if you are doing the 21 day fix program DO IT. get this book. its great. and i'm a good one to evaluate because i've been on every diet under the sun and enjoyed the weight watchers cookbooks and rocco dispirito's (also a wonderful italian based diet cookbook) and its every bit as good as well as very motivating if you are doing the plan. Keeping in mind what the 21 day fix is all about - which is basically "clean eating" which all that means is whole foods and no added sugar or much fat - all of these suggestions about the blueberries (which are great btw!) dressings and shakes are to pair together with the basic food on the plan, spice up your dishes with flavor and make them more satisfying to help motivate you through the full 21 days. I did fall off the wagon on saturday so I was happy to have this book and get back on track this week ...eating the tuna salad right now. once i finish the 21 days, I can see how these ideas will pair with other diets that I may want to try. its got recipes that are low carb, low sugar and just basically healthy.

Great addition to the 21 day fix program
The cookbook is put together nicely, with recipes sectioned out according to the meal for the day (breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts). I am not interested in Shakeology, because of the price, but I will likely be trying one or two of those recipes with an alternative powder (I am using Vega One). Thankfully, there aren't many of these shake powder recipes in the book. I bought this book solely because I am using the portioning cups and am running out of creative ideas for meals besides eating a red box of chopped meat and a green box of chopped veggies. In this regard, the recipe book does not disappoint at all. It gives many different recipes, extending my interest in the portion control boxes, as well as continuing to provide guidance for methods by which I can convert my other recipes to make them fit the portion control program. Bottom line: If you're trying the FIXATE portion of her 21 day fix, you will really appreciate this cookbook. And you can even manage it without a coach.

... made almost every recipe in the book and have loved all but one of them
I have made almost every recipe in the book and have loved all but one of them. Yes some of the ingredients are pricey but they go a long way and are good for your health. There are recipes for every meal and some great ideas for shake flavors (I use the Natures bounty vanilla and chocolate protein complete shake mix instead of the costly shakeology mix). I feel the actual layout of the cookbook was rushed and not thought out but not worth a star deduction. The cook book also takes the calculating work out of following daily intake if you are doing the 21 day fix diet using the containers which is why I purchased it. In fact I have lost 12 lbs and my spouse 10 lbs in three weeks without any exercise using just the recipes in the book! I hope she puts out more cookbooks in the future. The recipes are for single to double portions for most so the book is good for couples that struggle to find quick and easy healthy meals.I find my grocery bill on first trip hurt wallet a bit but I was also replacing all my food in our cupboards with the ingredients in the book for a dedicated approach to healthy eating. Since then my shopping trips are average to what we were spending on old way of eating and takeout, and we feel so much healthier and have energy again.

Updated version received. Excited to try many recipes!
* I downloaded the updates for the container typos that people were reporting, and every update provided had already been fixed in the copy I have. Admittedly, I haven't made any of the recipes yet - I just got the book a few days ago. However, looking through it, there are several that I'm definitely going to integrate into my weekly meal plan. Her Italian heritage definitely shows, as there's definitely an Italian theme to many of the recipes. To some it may not matter, but if you're looking for a load of cultural diversity within your recipes, then this book isn't for you. The serving size and corresponding 21 DF portion container counts for that serving are listed at the top of each recipe, so it works whether you're following the program or not. Also, at the bottom of each page is full nutritional information, if you're needing to limit carbs, sugar, sodium, etc. specifically for other dietary needs. Some reviewers have asked for a meal plan to be provided with it. I completely disagree - if you want a meal plan, go to Pinterest or your Beachbody Coach. This book is not intended to show you how to do the program, it's just recipes that you can use in your program. I would have been disappointed if they had wasted space showing me how to use these recipes in a meal plan - all I wanted was recipes. Since you know what the container counts will be for each of the recipes, and you know how many containers you get each day when you start the program, just work backwards. Pick out recipes you want to try for your big meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner), count up how many containers of each those recipes will use up, and fill in the remaining gaps of container counts for your snacks. I appreciate that the Shakeology recipe section is small, and separate from all other recipes. The Beachbody programs and coaches can put used car salesmen to shame with how much they push Shakeology, so I expected many of the recipes to rely on using it as an ingredient. However, it's completely separate, and only a few recipes occupy that section. If protein powder is used in a recipe, they don't specify that it has to be Shakeology.

Delicious, simple, practical
The recipes are easy to make and are very flavorful. I also love the practicality of the recipes, as I can make one main ingredient (e.g. meatballs) and then use it in different dishes throughout the week. This book taught me that healthy/clean eating is not difficult; it is simply a lifestyle change which leads to feeling better, having more energy, looking better and even better mood. I love this program and already gifted another copy to a friend. I love that it teaches me how to eat, even if I don't only use the recipes from the book; it teaches me how to substitute for healthier ingredients. I love the deserts and now I'm able to indulge without feeling guilty! Actually just had a delicious brownie from one of the recipes!!!

Could be better.
I am not a Beachbody Coach so this will be an unbiased review. Not that the coaches lie, but they are, essentially, salespeople who also help motivate people in their workout endeavors. Nothing wrong with that - just that their reviews are typically biased. I love my coach and most other coaches who I talk to through social media, but I don't trust any of their reviews. That being said, this cookbook is just okay. I am the type of person who hoards cookbooks. I love them. I love to cook and I truly appreciate a good cookbook. This cookbook has some great recipes. They look delicious and simple, and the fact that they are super healthy helps make this book even better. Some of the ingredients can be a little pricey, so just be aware of that before you buy. But, in most of the cases, the ingredients are affordable. I appreciate that there are only a few Shakeology recipes as Shakeology, according to Beachbody and the coaches, is the best thing on the planet. My only real problem is that there are not very many recipes. When paying around $25 (with shipping) for a cookbook, I expect much more than I got in this book. I can find more options just by doing a quick internet search. So, would I recommend buying this? Maybe. It's not really worth the money when there are so many other choices to be found all over the internet. But if you like to have a physical cookbook in hand like I do, this is a good place to start. **UPDATE** I saw that someone said that my review failed to mention that the description includes "101 recipes" so I should have known that prior to purchasing. That person is right. However, 12 of those recipes include mixed drinks (something I don't think most people are looking for in a cookbook), shakeology (not everyone, myself included, drinks shakeo) and dressings. Dressings don't count as "recipes" for me, though I do understand that some may need them. When I hear the word "recipe", I assume that the recipes are for dishes with a little more substance than for mixed drinks and dressings. And I agree with the other reviewer in that the 21 Day Fix is a GREAT program. But my review is not about the program - it is about this cookbook. So, with everything being said, I do think this book is just okay and not worth the ~$26.

Happy with my hardcover book!
Love the ease of this book. I am a member on BOD and I prefer a hard copy of the recipes even if some said they were online. The online is really annoying to go through and while itโs nice to see videos o prefer a hard copy of a book. I love that I know I can continue this program long term. Especially how it doesnโt have a bunch of items that are unheard of. I know I can find all these items at my local grocery store and I can plan a lot of recipes from this book. Worth the money and Iโm happy and losing weight!
