Really works, perfectly
It took a couple days for the small birds to get use to it. They use it everyday since. Feed lasts longer too. But what was really cool, was that the 40-50 red wing blackbird and starling flocks stopped! They tried, and gave up. They no longer pester the local birds nor does my feeder get wiped out out of food in a day. It's easy to load feed, clean, and is very well built.

The birds and I love these feeders
This is not my first time to purchase one of these feeders. I purchased one in 2016 I always have really liked it and wished I had more, it always seemed to be very popular and emptied out before the other tube feeders I have. At first yes they were leery of it but it didn't take long and they were using it freely. With any new feeder in general it can take along while for birds to start using it, birds are not quick to trust something new and different! Don't give up on a new feeder too quickly it can take a month or more with some feeders, and once they start using it, it may become their favorite! I was leery of a caged feeder that they would get hurt in it, I can't say for other caged feeders but this one has been safe for them. I did do like some of the other reviewers suggested and taped where the two sides of the cage come together (one review I read suggested florist tape that is what I used) in some areas there is some spaces where it might catch the birds toenails, their toenails are so very small! I saw a bird stuck in my neighbors fence on close inspection it's toenail was stuck in between the links and luckily I was able to free it. I'm glad to say I don't have a problem with squirrels BUT I do have a huge problem redwing blackbirds. They come in the spring and they are such bullies, and to see those big birds on the tube feeders is so irritating, they put one foot on the perch and the other on the port opening and eat freely!! I end up having less of my small birds and more redwings. I had more feeders out a ways from the house because of the black oil sunflower shells mess. Last year though I tried sunflower chips after the redwings left and put some tube feeders up closer to the house and I was enjoying being able to have the birds up close. BUT this spring the redwings returned and the tube feeders with the chips became redwing feeders I was so upset, and I can't afford the money it takes to feed them man can they empty a tube feeder fast! SO I bought two more of the Audubon Squirrel Proof Caged Feeders and filled them with the sunflower chips and in just a few minutes I had a goldfinch inside eating. And of course a redwing jumped up on it and scared the goldfinch away but he couldn't get to the food. Success, the redwings still do try but less and less!!! I have more goldfinches than I have ever seen in my yard, they like the sunflower chips better then the black oil sunflower seeds and are eating more of the chips than the thistle seed. And the redwings are not able to take over their feeders. NOW I bought Three more of these feeders, SO I HAVE A TOTAL OF SIX NOW! At first I told myself they cost too much money BUT I was spending so much money buying the chips, and even though the black oil is less money it was adding up too in cost SO it was either stop feeding the birds or buying the feeders. Stopping was not the answer both my husband and I enjoy the birds! So I had one and I ordered the two more and realized how much money we were saving by not having to buy as much seed, it made the feeders a really good value and not to mention---not only that but to be not facing the thought of not feeding the birds anymore!!! I then bought the next three and have not regretted it for even one minute---like I said more goldfinches then I have ever had (had very few before) and the housefinches CAN NOW EAT IN PEACE-- and less money spent on food---the feeders will pay for themselves over time for what we save in food!!! And like I said I bought my first one in 2016 it has been outside 24/7 and it is still in perfect condition!!!! It is so wonderful to see the small birds eating in peace again!!! And now having six I put two in the back area with the black oil sunflower seeds and two with sunflower chips up closer hanging in a tree and have two up really close (not had any feeders this close before) with sunflower chips so enjoyable and has been worth every penny!!! AND I have to say once in awhile when I see a redwing hop up on a caged feeder and can't get in I have a bit of a "gotcha" moment! They do get to eat they just have to stay on the ground with the quail, doves and others, I mix cracked corn and black oil the corn doesn't cost as much----in the late evening before dark I give the quail and doves some sunflower chips--on the ground up close to the house there isn't as many redwings at that time of day. When the redwings leave for the season I usually don't add the corn on the ground, and I will continue to use the caged feeders and be able to fill the regular tube feeders that are still left and have just been hanging there empty---It will spread the birds out more and I won't have to fill the feeders very often at all.

Keeps away grackles and blackbirds
I ordered this a couple weeks ago to keep the smaller birds safe from the gigantic flock of starlings that live nearby. The little local birds were getting bullied away and the starlings were eating up all the seeds, but this keeps them away very well! I've watched several grackles and blackbirds try repeatedly to get seeds from it, but the cage keeps them far enough back that they can't reach in and steal food. The grackles gave up pretty easily, though the blackbirds have been more persistent. They're not an invasive species, but they will hog the feeder in big groups if left to it, so this is nice to keep them off. And they can still eat the bigger seeds the little birds throw on the ground just fine.My only complaint with this is that it doesn't hold a large amount of food. The birds will clean out nearly the whole thing in one day, which is a bit annoying. But other than that it's done exactly what I hoped for. Can't speak to its effectiveness against squirrels though, we don't have any around here.

Effective and Good Quality!
The media could not be loaded. I’m so glad I got this bird feeder! I didn’t have a squirrel problem, but rather a grackle problem. I have a video camera so I could watch my birdies enjoy their meals, and instead I’d watch these big bullies come in droves and plant themselves on my old bird feeder from dusk til’ dawn, scaring away all the other birds, completely emptying my bird feeder in a day or two, and leaving only to switch with yet another grackle or two while they made a grating ruckus in the trees around my yard, one of which was right over my car and had me greeting an artistic water coloring of bird doodoo in my windshield every morning.Needless to say, I was fed up and wanted a feeder for just my little feathered friends too enjoy. So I ordered this feeder in hopes of finding a solution. I’m happy to say that it’s done it’s job well! It’s more well made than I expected for the price. Much more attractive than my old cheap feeder, and only the clear part is plastic. I was worried the grackles might lift the lid, but it has two little metal rings that keep it down.I watched with admittedly quite a bit of spiteful satisfaction as the grackles attempted one by one to get into this new contraption. And believe me they TRY. At most some where able to grab the occasional one or two seeds that where sticking out a little further, but most left after throwing a tantrum. I left a video of one of them above. To my delight, I no longer have to wipe of bird poop mosaics from my car, my bird feeder remains full for much longer, and best of all, a much more diverse rainbow of birds have returned that I can watch. Black capped chickadees, dark eyes juncos, song sparrows, house sparrows, northern cardinals, downy woodpeckers, ect. To my delight, I even have a male red bellied woodpecker visitor. Although he’s too big to get inside, he’s able to better reach the seeds than the grackle's are, so he has a turn to eat but can’t hog the feeder like many bigger birds tend to do. Instead of just grackles, I’m seeing 4 little songbirds birds all sitting together on each stand, and it just warms my heart. You can always put up a separate feeder for large birds, but I highly recommend having one just for small birds to enjoy without harassment.

Very Well Made
I had been looking for a feeder that would deter the Stellar Jay's from stealing and making a mess of the food for the smaller birds. I was torn between this one and one with the weight-adjustable perches that can close, but the reviews on some of them wasn't convincing, so I finally took the plunge and spent the $ on this one. It's a good size and holds a lot of seed. The seeds seem to stay inside very well, and their is plenty of airflow to keep the seeds fresh. It works amazingly.. the Stellars arrived to try to feed and made quite the racket when they discovered they couldn't access the seeds.. it was pretty much a temper tantrum, really. The little birds love it, and I've seen up to four inside at a time, happily feeding, while others wait outside to enter. I don't have a squirrel problem here, but I imagine it would deter them from getting at the food, although they could definitely hang from it unless there was a way to stop them from getting onto it. Overall, a great purchase, worth the price tag.

As Described
I have purchased many bird feeders, many of which purport to keep out other animals or larger birds, but never do. This feeder has allowed the smaller birds to fit nicely inside and keep the large birds that empty it quickly out. The birds don't get caught inside. I believe a White Breasted Nuthatch was able to get in as well which are much larger than a Chickadee. The Blue Jays, Starlings, Grackles could not get in. It is easy to fill but I haven't tried taking it apart to wash yet so I am not sure how easy that is.

Looks great but no squirrels one yellow bird!
For us it is not much squirrels as it is black birds that we want to deterred from our feaders. Hope this will work. After a few days no birds are interested in feeding in this bird feeder.Still no birds go to this feeder. This morning there was one yellow bird at the feeder. Hope that there will be more.

WoW... great find & product
have a few other feeders - this one works great thwarting the squirrels, so far. Although they still attempt daily stabs at it including 3 at a time but it's worked great so far! Bravo...
