The Infinite Worlds of H. G. Wells [DVD]

A little known gem, this mini series makes good use of some of Well's short stories with an excellent cast. It's a well written mix of gentle humour, suspense, romance and, of course, Science Fiction as we discover (supposedly) where H G got some of his ideas for stories from.The picture quality of this DVD is watchable but not brilliant as they have squeezed it all onto one disc (using a low bit rate for the more technical of you).With many outdoor shots and some nice special effects I would guess it was expensive to make and is of the quality I associate with the better BBC costume drama. Because it ends a bit weakly (I suspect it may have been designed as a full-blown long series but they ran out of money) I only give it four stars but HIGHLY RECOMENDED, nevertheless.

A must for the fans of Tom Ward and the novels of H. G. Wells!A jewel amongst television mini series an a great movie with an the fascinating Tom Word.

If you are reading this then take my advice and ' Buy it ' as you will not regret it.Now although this looks like a single Film it is in fact a ' Mini series 'Inspired from H.G WELLS ' Short Stories 'Its a ' two disk ' set with a total running time of 5 hours 27 minutes (approx)As a big fan of ' H.G.WELLS ' I cant work out how I missed this mini series and I am sure its gathering dust on the shelves of a few TV companies who do not realise how good it is.If you are into ' Science Fiction ' in its full sense then you will really enjoy this.Now its no glossy special effects laden dvd where the concept gets lost's within the special effects but its a serious thought provoking series of stories that will leave you thinking ' what if 'Although its a standard 4:3 ratio the picture quality is pin sharp.If you buy it you will watch this time and time again.At this current time if you use Amazon Marketplace you can buy this at £ 4 { postage paid } and really this will overshadow a lot of your more expensive DVD'sDirector: Robert YoungTilly Vosburgh Rosa CaveTom Ward H.
