More worthwhile to buy the original Garmin USB Power Cable
I purchased this cable twice. When I installed the first one on my motorcycle, it would randomly stop powering my Garmin GPS and I believed I had shorted it out when I realized the cable had been pinched under the tank. I rerouted the cable but still had the same problem, however, it worked well enough to keep the unit charged for battery mode. I got a newer bike and decided to buy this product again. This time I took care to properly route the cable to avoid having it pinched. For the first couple rides everything seemed fine. Then the same problem started to occur. I double checked the wiring and found no fault with the install but decided to connect directly to the motorcycle battery. This revealed a new problem, I still experienced power loss from the cable but also found that my GPS would power up in data transfer mode as it would when connected to a computer for installing updates. Upon further investigation I also discovered this cable does not support the traffic transceiver feature of my Nuvi LMT and neither does the official Garmin hardwire kit. On the plus side, the branded Garmin USB Power Cable does not fail and only costs a few dollars more. I gave it 2 stars because it WAS easy to install and at least kept my GPS fully charged. It just isn't worth the hassle involved when it would fail during operation. That is why I recommend that Garmin users buy the Garmin cable.

Good cord – great customer service!
I bought this cord to hard-wire my Garmin GPS to my truck because I hate having a rats-nest of cords all over my dash. So this was ordered and I promptly hard-wired it behind the dash.Everything worked great for right about a year– then suddenly it stopped working properly. Bummed that I was going to have to buy another cord, I wrote the company and simply inquired if there was any warranty that covered it since it was under a year. I was willing to buy another but just figured I would check first. To my surprise, a week later I received a brand-new cord in the mail! So I'll be replacing the old one and I'm hoping to identify any failure point on the old one so that I can possibly avoid it happening again with the new cord.Love the cord – bummed it broke after a year– but stoked they replaced it for free! Good company that stands behind what it sells!I also have a cord from them that I hard-wired my dashcam with and it has been going strong for a year now.Would highly recommend these cords and this company!

Works perfect
I used this for my GPS on my Harley Davidson 09 Ultra Classic FLHTCU. I had a accessory connector for my bike that I used to wire the cable to the ACC switch. It was very easy, and plenty of wire to run from under the seat to the neck, and up into the front fairing. I ran the qire out of the clutch cable hole and to the GPS. Now with an adapter, I can use it to charge my phone as well. I highly recommend this product. HD wanted $80 for a wiring kit. Very easy to install, and directions were very clear and easy to understand.

Red Wire Black Wire Mismatch
Product did not work as described. I had trimmed the wires to install on my motorcycle but no power came thru. I was ready to discard product and saw another review that helped out. The wires were connected wrong! I had connected the red wire to the red wire, the black wire to the black wire. Nothing happened except the small control box got warm. The solution is to connect the red wire to the grounded black wire and connect the black wire to the hot red wire. Success! Please Do Not try this unless you have exhausted all other options.
