My dad had a vestibular schwannoma.
About 7 months ago, my dad left his 3k worth hearing aid on a train never to be returned. He lost most of his hearing after the removal of a Vestibular Schwannoma in the 90s. Left ear is completely deaf and right one has gotten progressively worse over the years. Now, after he couldn’t find his hearing aid anymore, he refused to buy a new one because he can’t afford to travel and buy another one. Unfortunately, however, life is much more difficult and much less enjoyable when you constantly need to ask what the other person has said, or you can’t participate in any social communication because you can’t properly hear anyone conversing. It ended with him pretending to have understood what we said, but he really didn’t. He just felt like a bother to constantly ask us to repeat what we said. Two days ago, he gave me $100 to buy office for my upcoming studies with the words that he’d like to contribute to my career that way. I didn’t really want to take it, but if you know my dad, you know he doesn’t take no for an answer. So, I took the 100 bucks and went and bought him this hearing amplifier on Amazon. The reviews were great and I thought it can’t hurt to try it. Today, it came in, we started it, put it into his ear and it works like a charm. My dad choked up and said that it is unbelievable that I could order it, it arrived in two days, and now he can hear again. He poured himself a drink and is now happily watching the Tour de France with my husband telling him every three minutes that he can’t believe that he can hear and that he’ll go to the hearing aid store in Germany to tell them that his daughter bought a $80 hearing aid that works better than the 3k one he lost. 😂 He said it’s excellent at cancelling out any surrounding noise.

Get what you pay for + Buyer Beware on the batteries displayed with product!!!
Two issues - First the wrong batteries (LR44) were being advertised with this and refunds were not possible (??). Second, Get what you pay for. OK amplifier but I got spoiled with a more expensive one (4 times the price) but it fit well and performed better. If you want an "OK" with cheaper plastic it will and can work. If I was going to wear this daily, I would return and have gone for the more expensive brand. It does work and the amplification is not bad just know it is not the top of the line by any means. $75 vs $400 is quite a jump. As with most things, money means different things to different people. Fortunately for me I only need one as my other ear is gone.

Good deal for the money
This is my first experience with a hearing amplifier. It does help me understand what people are saying much better. The price is very inexpensive. Those are the pros. The cons: Lots of feedback. I worry the loud feedback will damage my hearing. The amplification is enough on the lowest volume setting, I sometimes want to reduce the sound level even more, and there is no option for less volume. At the higher volume levels the feedback becomes a big problem. Also, the "mode" switch is not explained in the directions, other than saying there is a mode switch. It does not explain what mode it is in when it beeps once or twice, or what each mode setting is supposed to do. As far as I have been able to tell, it does nothing except make a beep or two beeps when you press the mode switch. I would recommend this to anyone with hearing loss who doesn't want to spend thousands of dollars for something that could easily be lost.

Good but not durable.
I like the hearing aid a lot but they are not very durable. The battery just quit making contact after six months. I went ahead and bought another but only because they help my hearing so well. Update: so I ordered another pair. They lasted two and a half months. It just quit working. I would clean the tubing, brush out the battery report, change batteries and finally got it to work for a little while. I thought well I would at least get an exchange since I was past the one month warranty period. I tried to contact the company and their phone number is disconnected. I tried emailing them and the emails just came back to me undelivered. So I guess there's no way to get even an exchange on this defective device. After buying two of them I see that this is a pattern. When I initially bought my first one they had an A rating with the BBB. Now they are an F.
