I am a little asthmatic, slightly allergic to pet dander, very reactive to dust and mold so of course, I live in the middle of a swamp, in a house built in the 50s with two dogs. Breathing while I am sleeping it a coin toss on most nights. If I take an antihistamine, I may never sleep. I have used many air purifiers over the years to varying levels of success. Here is my opinion of this unit based on what I have come to think of as important.It is quiet and can be rendered quieter and still be effective. My partner is sensitive to noise while sleeping. We found that running it in a closed bedroom for 30 minutes to an hour before bedtime got the room to a place where you could adjust the unit to nearly silent and still keep clean air.It works, boy howdy does it work. The test for this is usually to sit in the room and breath deeply while paying attention to my lungs. I did the old lung test and they reported all signs to the positive. The unit itself also displays a air quality measurement and it seems legit.It is not an eyesore. This doesn't seem important until a few months in and you have to see it every day, many times a day. Perhaps your wife throws blankets and clothes over it in silent protest. Perhaps she also slides it behind things so as to not have to look at it drastically reducing the airflow. Does my spouse do these things because it offends her sense of aesthetic? No, because this unit is well designed. Has she done these things in the past nearly asphyxiating her loving husband for style? Let us leave it at a diplomatic, "It is better to err on the side of stylish and breathing."Are you replacing filters every week? No, there are significant steps up to the main filter so it stays clean longer. You can even clean that filter a few times before replacing it. This is a good value.I am happy with the quality, function, noise level and design of this unit. I would buy it again.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  We've had this air purifier for a week now, and it has been amazing.The attached pictures are all of the item we bought: TaoTronics HEPA Air Purifiers for Home, Allergies Smoke Pollen Pets, Home Air Cleaner Filtration System, Odors Dust, Sleep Mode Timer Auto Mode.Pros:It shipped exceptionally well packed, and setup was very simple, be sure to open the filter compartment and remove the plastic cover from filter starting up the machine! (See Pictures).It has an adjustable fan speed from "Darn near silent" all the way up to what my son calls "Comfortable White Noise for sleeping" at full "turbo" speed. It is capable of filtering a huge area very quickly, and it has a "true HEPA"fc20-c/d compound filter that is easily removable cleanable or replaceable.Cons:There's a small cover on the back of the unit that isn't labeled and seems to have no visible purpose (in the last couple of pictures), and it would be nice if there were some more descriptive instructions on how the "ION" mode and the sleep time works, but a little bit of trial and error sorted it out for us.In all, I couldn't be happier with this machine!Setup was easy and we had it running in no time. The manual is ok, but would benefit from more information about all the available air cleaning modes.We located the TAO on the floor in our nook, not far from our kitchen, hoping it would eliminate or reduce cooking odors as we don’t have an outside vented range hood.Most of the time we run the unit in auto mode as that work very well and takes care of cooking odors pretty rapidly. Fan speed adjustments are at the top of TAO if you want to change or modify air cleaning time settings. We find the turbo mode way to noisy, but it gets the job done quickly. Sleep mode is so quiet that we often forget to shut the unit down at night.We have not found the ION setting to make a noticeable difference in how the air in our house smells, we will continue to evaluate that setting.Have used the timer function a few time when in the noisy turbo mode and it will then shut off after the set time expires.Overall we are impressed with the performance of the Taotronics Air Purifier. No negatives to report. So far the filter does not show any discoloration and we hope it will last the suggested 3-6 month. Vacuuming the outside of the filter should extend its life some.We can highly recommend this Taotronics Air Purifier if you are looking for a reasonably prices, effective air cleaner.

The great: the air filter used here is actually true HEPA (the 0.3-micron measure isn’t arbitrary, it is the HEPA test standard because 0.3 micron is regarded as the hardest size to capture whereas larger and smaller particles are easier to capture). I tested this air purifier in a 250 sq. foot room with a professional air quality particle counting meter. After a few hours, depending on ambient conditions (how dusty or smoky the room is), I noticed it a significantly reduced (close to 99%) levels of PM10 (particulate matter < 10 μm (microns) - dust, pollen, mold, etc) and PM2.5 (fine particles from smog, cigarette smoke, cooking smoke < 2.5 μm). PM2.5 particles are the type that EPA considers "the greatest risk to health" among particulate pollution; as they can deeply penetrate the lungs and enter the bloodstream. I didn't measure the CFM of the air purifier, but at high speeds I would estimate that the air purifier performs at least 6 to 7 air changes per hour in a standard size 300 sq. foot room with 8-foot ceilings.The good: the purifier is stylish enough, enough to pass the Wife Acceptance Assessment. Fan blower is whisper quiet on all but the highest fan setting.Room for improvement: a remote control would make this air purifier perfect, but I understand it would add to the cost.

This product was delivered in 1 day and set up took minutes. As soon as we turned it on, the light turned RED indicating very poor air quality. We let it continue to run and within a few hours the air quality had improved considerably. When we are cooking the air purifier will immediately notice the air quality and smell change and kick into high gear to remedy. We have noticed significant improvement in the morning when we wake; our allergies have improved.

I purchased the air purifier since I was having breathing issues upon waking up since we got a cat. The product shipped and arrived quickly. It immediately made a difference. It automatically adjust based on the air quality, so I never have to adjust manually.
