Fun. Informative. Inspiring
It's seldom give a review but in this case my heart has been won, both by the writer and the puppy I know is depending on me to help him "play the music." Buy the book! Thanks for your experience Steven. Mark

Really Awesome Book- But Not a How-To Guide on Training Pointers!
Awesome book and a great read. But it didn't actually have much on the how to's of training a pointer to hunt to cultivating its natural instincts- which is what I actually wanted. If you want a how to book on training your pointer, the author recommends (in like chapter 3) that you read Gun Dog by Richard Wolters.

If it doesn't point it's just a dog.
Very well written, informative and easy to understand in a light hearted way. A MUST HAVE for any pointing dog master/trainer.

Purely anecdotal
I’m not through this yet and still hoping to find one or two useful tidbits.

Not a training book
If you are looking for a book on how to train a pointer, look for a different book. Pointing Dogs reads more of a novel with stories and never describes how to train your dog. I cannot stress this enough, if you want to train a new puppy, this is NOT the book you need.
