Marvelous.
I got this book now because the one I had since 1986 was worn out. I think it is a marvelous work of written expression, the great American novel, unparalleled in modern history. The caliber of Margaret Mitchell's only writing excursion is unbelievable. She never wrote another novel because, she could never write anything that would be comparable to Gone With The Wind. I've read it now 31 times and it takes me about 2-3 months to get through it. The lettering is kind of small, but hey; that's what reading glasses are for.I had a friend who read it once and was so angry at Scarlett O'Hara she had tears in her eyes as she explained why, "She could have been so happy!"

Better than the movie
I would watch the movie every year for the past 50 years loving every moment. so glad to have finally read the book. It's so much better than the movie. I laughed, I cried I loved and I hated all the characters. Now I feel like I truly know and understand them so much more. I was sad to turn the last page. I will read it again soon. Enjoy

An Excellent Novel Depicting Georgia Before and After The U.S. Civil War
I do not recall ever having read a novel before, that was able to reach into the depths of the physic and current everyday detailed feelings of the main characters, while describing happenings and events of the day, that which Margaret Mitchell was able to accomplish. It was extreme detail in the Negro speech patterns that reflected the ongoing, the novels current day events, that other authors can never accomplish. In some cases, knowing I had a 1000 pages to read, I passed on through some of the continuing physic detail, but her novel's plot was solid and overall highly encompassing for the times that the novel covers. Actually, it was only 12 years of Scarlets life in Georgia, before and after the Civil War, but they were very compact years, as expressed in the writings of Margaret Mitchell.

Good book
I saw the movie years and years ago. The book was a little too detailed about the Civil War but might be good for someone that likes that type of book. It was very good tho.

Beautiful book
This is a beautiful edition of this book. It will be kept as a keepsake as I have read the book in years past many, many times. I wanted to get a copy before it is removed from print by the powers that be. So sad if they go ahead and ban this book which shows what happened in history. Nothing to be ashamed about it is our history, just as today's fiasco will be history one day for all to read about.
