Works for me
I don't see what the complaints are about. This is a basic bug zapper, and it's hard to mess up the design. UV-A tube in the middle; double-helix spiral grid around it; plastic casing. 3' cord because Chinese apartments are small, would recommend 10' cord for American bedrooms. No on-off switch, just plug it in.We have not had much luck with the larger rectangular two-bulb systems, it seems like they are either too bright indoors to fool the mosquitoes into thinking that they're a star, or perhaps their steel grids are too large to catch the tiny mosquitoes. This single-bulb model catches more, in our home. Maybe the two-bulb systems work better as a beacon outside; we've also had better luck placing them on the floor, instead of up in the middle of the room.So this one-bulb system is cheaper and works better. There are about 20 models on the market, as of July 2020, that are all essentially the same. This one is the cheapest I've been able to find; it does the job, and it works. We're buying a fourth one for the various rooms, to stop moving the units back & forth.Edit: Bulb replacement is FSL Actinic BLT5F6W, 209mm end-to-end, 222mm including prongs. Socket is PUSH-on-to-fit, NO twisting involved. Disassembly requires a 12-yr-old with a Philips screwdriver; make sure to short the coils out by touching two killing wires with a piece of metal (screwdriver) after unplugging, to avoid a potential mild shock, as the capacitors retain energy even after unplugged.

Definitely worth the money! It WORKS!
This thing WORKS! It’s like a magnet for bugs! Definitely a great value for the money! I was worried it wasn’t going to be strong enough since it is so small. I was wrong, it’s great!I placed it outside in my screened in lanai and directly on the floor. The photo I posted was only after using it for less than a week. It’s gross! Although I have not opened the bottom of the unit to clean out the bugs I cannot imagine there are too many in there. The insects seem to die on contact and then stick to the electrified metal. I’ve tried to gently tap it on the ground to get them loose with no luck. But it seems to me, at least right now, that this does not deter bugs from touching it anyway. So it may look gross, but as long as it’s working I don’t care!

A device with room for improvement
This device delivers exactly what it promises, so much so that I even bring it along on my trips. I appreciate how this product helps with flying insects. The only issue I encounter is replacing the light within the devices. Although the lights are replaceable, it's a challenging task without the right tools and can be time consuming. I hope that future upgrades to this product will make bulb replacement easier. Fortunately, finding replacement bulbs for this product is not a problem.

Worse purchase
The zapper didn't zap a thing....was a replacement for one that I purchased prior to this which stopped working..cord is on top instead of the bottom. Kept falling over...won't buy it again...waste of money. right now I'm 0-2 in purchase for traps...

Not great for house flies, stopped working after a while, not terrible for the price tho
So I didnt hate it at first.I got it specifically for house flies but they weren't really attacted to it. But it worked well for gnats and kissing bugs and mosquitoes, so it wasnt a total loss. Most of the bugs got stuck to the zapper coils, so it wasnt as easy to clean, and after a particularly large moth got caught it made a constant zapping until I unpluged and cleaned all the bugs off of it with a long handled q tip.It worked okay for about 6 month but now it wont work, might be the light but it doesnt seem possible for me to change it without breaking it open so its on its way to the junk bin.

Easy and effective
It’s as easy as plugging into an outlet and it really reduces the mosquitoes in my yard

Not suitable for small insects like fruit flies.
Did not like the (too separate) distance between zapper elements. Does not catch smaller bugs...
