Victor H. Anderson: An American Shaman

"Every poem is a love letter to God Herself"
Readers who were fascinated and intrigued by the books ETHERIC ANATOMY and FIFTY YEARS IN THE FAERY TRADITION will be thrilled to spend time with this in-depth portrait of Faery Tradition Grandmaster Victor Anderson. Author Cornelia Benavidez shared a warm friendship with Victor and Cora from 1981 until their deaths. In these interviews, Victor discusses details of his Initiator (described as his longest teacher in the Craft), his views on psychic and sexual hygiene, his love of indigenous traditions worldwide, and his devotion to God Herself and Her Consort through poetry, magical practice, and simply the way he lived his life. I found Victor's detailed reminiscences of his childhood years to be among the most fascinating pages. His memories provide a portrait of times and places otherwise little known in the history of the American Southwest. Victor was truly an extraordinary teacher and remarkable individual. Reading this book makes you feel as if you're in Victor and Cora's living room, enjoying friendly company with the Grandmaster and marveling at his spellbinding way with words and his very American style of wit. A book to which I will return again and again.

Precious Resource
For those thirsty for valuable oral histories and magical/spiritual perspectives from Victor, this book is a precious resource. However, the compiler's text and notes are often beset by unclear syntax, mechanical errors, etc that detract from its clarity and power. I'm very grateful for the author/compiler's work in preserving and publishing these interviews-- and I also wish that this text had been given a more thorough and constructive editing before going to press.
