FlySight 7 Ch Black Pearl 5.8Ghz 7" Diversity Monitor with I

Great Match for your Phantom; use it for FPV, Framing Shots, Telemetry etc. Watch for faulty batteries!
I bought this monitor to use with my Phantom 2, GoPro4 Silver system. I utilize a Immersion RC 600mw transmitter and Fat Shark Spiro Net antennas and a helical twist antenna.Generically; the monitor is easy to use. It sets up quickly, scrolling through the available bands and working as a diversity/dual receiver. The picture quality is good. It's a little dimmer than I'd like in bright sun, but given it's specs and brightness, it's what you would reasonably expect. The screen shade is cheap, but semi functional.Aside from the brightness in bright sun, the picture is clear and of good quality, again; in line with the specs. Remember; the setup I'm using isn't transmitting the signal in HD. One important feature is that it displays my telemetry data from the iOS Mini perfectly. Direction, distance, battery life, GPS signal are all perfectly superimposed over the picture. I didn't have to do any adjustment and didn't have any cutoff (although this monitor allows you to adjust it if that happens). The reason I'm giving it a 3 star rating is 2 things; 1) Terrible battery life and 2) distance issues with the reception. Firstly on battery; it discharges too quickly. It's rated for around 90 minutes of use. I have fully charged it, turned it on and barely got to 40 minutes before it's flashing red and dies. I also have fully charged it, removed the battery from the monitor and it again discharges (on it's own somehow) to about 30% in a few days. This is unacceptable and certainly wouldn't work for a commercial application. I believe some models had a battery recall, but I wasn't able to verify the dates or serial numbers, so I returned it. I like having the monitor to know the distance, to fly FPV and verify GPS signal, not to mention framing my video shots. If it's that unreliable, it's useless to me.2) Distance and signal strength. This is a harder one to validate. Without interference (i.e. telephone, powerless, Wifi etc) it's not always consistent. On some days I've gotten around 600 feet distance at 300 feet high and it starts to lose signal. With the antennas I'm using and a 600mw transmitter it should probably go further. Same place, same conditions, I've gotten about 300-400 feet and it starts losing signal. I've seen other people getting better distance so maybe it's an issue with my unit?I've returned the unit due to both issues but mainly the defective battery and am awaiting the replacement. I'll test the new one and update the review as appropriate. My research says there isn't a better, more user friendly, thin formed, full featured, all in one solution that beats this one. Lilliput has a new monitor with impressive specs, but it's harder to find and I'm not sure how easy it would be to return if needed. So, I'm hoping the new one performs as advertised.I would definitely buy this through Amazon, or a retailer with a good return policy, just in case.Overall: If the battery functions properly it's a must have for your drone/UAS. The ability to see where you are, frame your shots, view telemetry and fly FPV if needed is invaluable. When performing as advertised and with a proper battery, this is a great monitor.[...]

Faulty battery
Battery wouldn't charge all the way to full, so then would only last 15 minutes or so. Also when in diversity mode, the picture wouldn't stabilize (no v. hold), works in individual channel mode with immersionrc 600mhz 5.8ghz Tx. Picture is clear.Returned for faulty battery...UPDATE (-1 more star for battery quality control):After returning, thought I would try my luck again and ordered another since this is Amazon Prime (good thing!!), this second one I received was even worse, the battery would not charge at all. Plugged in, the monitor seemed to work fine, but unplug it, power off, no battery charge at all. Charge light didn't even come on when plugged in.Returned again (Thanks Amazon Prime!!), seriously, would NEVER give this product this many chances if not for Prime. It has all the features, so if I could get one with a good battery, I would be happy. Dare I try again!?!UPDATE #2Ok, finally got one that will hold a charge, however it's an older model as it came with the older sun shield (which is a pain, the newer folding one is much better). I tested battery life on a full battery running in single Rx mode, got 1.5 hours. However, still can't get diversity mode to work without a vertical hold problem, I've tried all channels, same on all. Anyone know what's going on here?

Great monitor but battery life could be better!
The Black Pearl has been a great monitor so far! My only issue is the battery meter on the screen is either inaccurate or the battery itself isn't great quality. I've fully charged it and after one use for about 15 minutes (average flight time for my Phantom 2) it shows about 75% battery remaining. Also, the tabs on the sun visor are delicate. One tab on a side piece snapped within a few weeks of ownership, and I definitely treat my gear delicately.

Not bad
Very good packaging makes you feel like you get what you pay for... One think i would like to see in the future is a screen protector that comes with the item and another mount to hook it up with your remote or at least some instructions on how to get it goin. And the Sun Shades are okey for now but they dont look like they will last for long since the clips are very delicate..

Nice monitor.
This is a great monitor. You can use it as a 5.8Ghz receiver, standard def monitor or high-def HDMI monitor. The built-in batter works great. The stock antennas aren't great... You might want to upgrade them. When I first got it, it stopped working ( weird lines on the screen)... I thought it was dead.I unplugged it, and disconnected the battery for a few hours... then it was fine.Haven't had an issue since.

Great picture great battery life
This monitor is fantastic. Battery lasts through 3 Phantom batteries with no problem and still has time for playback. You can plug this monitor right into a Gopro (with the hdmi cable) and watch the video you just shot in full HD. The plastic sun shield is kind of cheap and mine was a bit warped, but I do not use it anyway. The screen is bright enough to not need it. Easy to set up and the receiver works well with the stock straight antenna. Because this has an hdmi in and an AV in, you CAN use this screen for anything that uses those like TV or game system.

like it. I give 4 stars

Perfect solution for PFV flyers
First one I ordered was only F-band and the battery didn't work. Must have been a bunk vendor. This one works great and is able to swap channels (A/B/E/F etc.) Makes the controller more compact because I don't have to have another battery pack to power the monitor (because it's included). In fact, I use the DC-out port to power a pocket-sized DVR and record everything.
