Horrible!
I ordered the book and it smelled like Cigarette smoke and the pages had turned yellow. And this was suppose to be a new Book.

A misleading description
This book is a strange combination of crime detection history and very boring, easy, unrelated puzzles. Each chapter details the history and development of crime and its detection by Scotland yard which is, in itself, interesting and informative. Each chapter then ends with a couple of puzzles which are sadly not connected to the processes of crime and its detection. For example, there might be a wordsearch puzzle where the words are related to Victorian crime at the end of the Victorian crime chapter. The description states "you solve some of the most puzzling problems the detectives ever faced" - solving crimes by doing crossword puzzles?, I think not. It could have been a great puzzle book with tasks connected to fingerprinting, DNA analysis, comparing witness statements, etc.So, in summary, a reasonable book if you want to read about the history of Scotland Yard but a very poor book if you want puzzles.

Great fun book
I bought this as a Christmas present for my daughter who is in the service and she loves it. Its a great read and she has learned a lot. She is pretty good at the whodunnits but has been fascinated by the facts she didn't know.

Too small font to be able to read
Bought for my husband but he can’t read it without a magnifier as the print is so small and faint. I have difficulty myself. It’s a shame

Good history, mediocre puzzles
The chapter stories are interesting, the puzzles are nothing to do with Scotland Yard and can be found in any puzzle book! Bit disappointed!

It is so good I bought my bothers copies.
I found the stories about NSY to be fascinating and informative. The puzzles are not for the faint hearted or those who find lateral thinking elusive. You can become so engrossed that you loose track of time. So be warned and enjoy.
