Delightful!
Very much enjoyed this easy, lighthearted mystery. Rainy is the perfect mix of โCity Girlโ with attitude, turned โcountryโ!Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Very cute story
I enjoyed this book. The light-hearted, but still interesting mystery was fun, and reading about the farm and the quintessential small southern town was charming. Worth the read if you need something fun to read.

and enough with the supposed good looks remarks because 'good looking' and far from good ...
Not kindle unlimited, got it on a freebie day somehow. Had some issues with the story, besides it dragging here and there, such as why did she have to go through getting what she said was a 'mortgage' when she paid cash, why since she's constantly out of food she never makes it to the place to get groceries, why is she always drinking and at times whole bottles at one time and mostly on empty stomach, and enough with the supposed good looks remarks because 'good looking' and far from good looking people both can lie, as far as kids they may be grown but that doesn't make it a freaky friday body mind swap where daughter or not has any right to go telling someone else what to do with their money and how and when to do it so doing otherwise is bad parenting, furniture too heavy or bulky to move yourself so done by a moving service usually includes the setting up of frame/mattress/springs and other same time so makes no sense that her bed would still be laying in pieces yet separated plus where has she been sleeping all this time, Way too much chick ick not teenage but acting as if are crap. I'd already guessed who the skeleton was, but how does even moving a cemetery to leaving one in a bungalow, and how if steel {because description was not of a plastic but metal container} which can only melt at temperatures of 1480 degrees have been melted in the fire it wasn't even right up on. And if everyone has been lying, why would she automatically believe that the uncle died of just a heart attack. No, you can't knock someone out with a small to medium bible/book, it is the front of the brain as it impacts on the skull that causes that so would not happen even in surprise hit with a medium sized light cover book on the jaw when he's that tall and she's short.

Rainy Day Moves to small town Virginia
Jeff Shelby's first book in his new series is a winner. I love the way his descriptions make you feel like you are there. And what could be wrong with a small town in Virginia?Raina Day - Rainy to her friends - is a divorced mother of 2 who decides it's time to leave the crazy DC life and move to a farm - even though she knows nothing about farm life. She finds a place that just calls to her and she decides on the spot to put in a bid. Four weeks later, she is in her new home, despite her daughter's misgivings. She starts getting organized, has a couple of visitors welcoming her to their community - her handsome neighbor and the bankers wife come pretty much at the same time. While walking around her property, she finds a surprise in one of the buildings and has to call the sheriff - a 70ish man who thinks nothing should happen on his watch and it hasn't for "over 60 years".The characters are all colorful and have their own problems, but they seem to forget them while they can watch the new arrival get herself onto the wrong side of some of the town's more interesting folks. The book goes at a great pace and leaves you wondering until the end. If you have enjoyed any of Jeff's other Cozy Mysteries, you'll love this new book... if you aren't familiar with his work, this is a great place to start!I received this book as one of Jeff's Advanced Readers in return for an honest review, but just purchased it anyway!

A quick and fun to read mystery, love the farm setting
I really enjoyed this quick and light mystery and enjoyed Rainy's character a lot. She cracked me up not telling her worrywart daughter about the stuff that was happening to her since she moved to the farm. Laura wasn't very happy when her mom moved a hundred miles away to a farm. I've read a book in the other series the author writes under another name, and it was more ha-ha funny, but this one was humorous in its own ways, maybe not the dialogue but just the characters and typical small town gossip. It wasn't too hard to figure out who the perp was, and Rainy used some quick thinking to stop them. I'll probably read the second one somewhere along the line. This was just a fun little change of pace.

Exciting and Enjoyable Read
When Rainey Day decides to leave her current life behind and search for greener pastures, well, that's just what she does. Coming from big city life, she is definitely not a country girl, and certainly has no clue what to do with a farm, but that's part of her plan to step out of her comfort zone and try a whole new life. Rainey soon finds out she got much more than she bargained for. The farm, the little town, the people, it all gets her to thinking that all of it is certainly not what she bargained for. What a big mistake the move turns out to be. With the rough beginning, she ready to pack up and go home, but wait, this now is her home. Rainey decides to take things into her own hands, puts on her big girl panties and stirs up the townsfolk. Jeff Shelby puts it all on the table with this easy read, sassy mystery filled with a little romance as well. One you'll surely enjoy reading and a real page turner. Rainey does a good job irritating people, making bad choice, jumping to conclusions, saying the wrong thing--a lot as she thinks she has it all figured out. Then the unexpected happens. I suggest you scoop this book up real soon and discover for yourself just what the city girl does on the farm

I don't do book reviews......
I don't do book reviews like you keep seeing, as I find that some give too much of the plot away and I personally hate that, as it makes the book not worth reading. I much prefer to take the authors back cover write up as a review as it can either intrigue you enough to read the book of provide you enough information to make you decide that the book is not for you.My review rules are: The more stars, the more I liked it.If there are too many typos or errors the less stars I giveIf the storyline or plot is poor or contains too many errors, the characters are too weak, the ending lacking something, then the less stars I give.Simple, uncomplicated and to the point without giving anything away. Some of the books I read have been given to me by the author as a pre-release copy and this does not bias my reviews in any way

A fun read
Rainy is looking to follow her dream, divorced with adult children she realises that now it is her turn to live. A city girl buying a farm is adventure enough for most but for Rainy, dead bodies and arson are thrown in to the mix. A lighthearted read that is well worth your time.

Well written but not very likeable heroine
For someone who repeatedly says she is not one to lose her temper, Rainy does so way too often. Worse, she makes a complete fool of herself in the process. As a whodunnit, it kept me guessing, but it was a bit of a ho hum ending and , frankly, the behaviour of the person didn't make sense. Don't think I will be reading any others.

Nice read
Very enjoyable book although the main character needs to remember the pause. She jumped to a few conclusions.
