A truly good read
From The Inside Out provides unmatched snapshots into the real lives of people with inflammatory bowel disease. Untainted by medical jargon, the stories bring out the emotions and turmoil hidden within the inside of IBD sufferers. Although the narratives are honest and often upsetting, there is an air of hope throughout. Hope of a cure, perhaps. But also hope for acceptance and freedom, which the #GetYourBellyOut movement has inspired. For Crohn’s and Colitis sufferers, the world is often an isolated and harsh reality, but by sharing experiences and talking freely, we are becoming more confident by the second. From The Inside Out is not purely an outline of the horrors that come with IBD and its associated obstacles, such as diagnostic tests, depression, pain and discomfort. It also brings to light how chronic illnesses can change people and, in some cases, unite them in the fight against a common enemy. This novel is both enlightening and inspiring and is a truly good read.

A 5 star read...
If you're new to IBD or would like to learn how life really is with it, then this is the book to read. The personal stories are fantastic and the poems amazing. But Matthews brutally honest story will have you feel exactly as he felt going through the motions of this awful disease. He leaves nothing out and will give you a roller coaster of emotions.I'm certainly looking forward to seeing more of Matthews work.

insightful commentary on living with with IBD with advice and guidance for further support
A great read with the authors story interspersed with other sufferers blogs. Some spelling mistakes are evident in one of the blogs to maintain authenticity as that was how it was written however the main body of the book is well written, and gives a good insight into the struggle some individuals face.
