Perfect read aloud for parents and teachers in 2020!!
I am a first grade teacher and mom to two elementary aged children. I found this book on amazon when trying to find relevant read alouds related to the pandemic to share in my classroom. My own children loved it as it was relevant to our own personal experiences making and wearing masks! I could see my daughter in Lucy and loved how conversations in the book mirrored those we were having at home. My social butterfly has really been struggling with being cooped up!Our state is returning to in person learning on 08/24 and everyone will be required to wear masks. I can't wait to make those connections with my students and empower them to help save the world like Lucy!I really love the positive message it brings to a controversial subject. Children are going to be required to wear masks in our building, period. Having a tool and a book character model that behavior in a positive light makes a huge impact on the way students view the new requirement!! Thank you for providing exactly what parents and educators needed in this crazy time 😷❤️🥰

Cute...
This is a really cute book, however... As an educator It would be better if the book spent more attention, perhaps either discussing different types of masks and relating them to the face masks we must wear during pandemic OR just have focused on her feelings about wearing the facemask and how it keeps everyone safe since she was sad about missing her friends and her normal life. We know this is hard for children but we really need to help children really understand the importance of needing to wear mask.

Very cute story but was expecting there to be a little more about wearing actually masks.
It was a very cute book my 1st graders LOVED it. They loved taking guesses on what Lucy was going to dress up as next in the story. It really doesn't say much about wearing actually masks until the very end of the book which I was hoping it would have a little more to do with that throughout the book. But I discussed with my students after we read the book that we are all superheros because wearing our masks saves people and they really got a kick out of that! Very cute story!

Wonderful Book (for young children) and a Perfect Bedtime Read!
As a grandmother, children’s yoga teacher, and mask maker - I’ve purchased/read several mask books for children. This is the best so far for the younger kids (about 2 - 7 years old). It’s a short and easy read (especially bedtime!) and has cute and colorful illustrations. It portrays fun ways to dress up with a mask (detective, explorers, pirate, queen, and superhero). I like it so much I’ve asked our local quilt shop to carry it. Bravo, Lisa and John Thompson (author/illustrator) - job well done!

My Mask Protects My Community
This is a fun story led by a child's imagination. Bored, we assume due to COVID restrictions, a girl is excited by the prospect of a mask her mom is making for her. While she imagines all the masked disguises she can assume, her mother sews a facemask so they can go out for a walk. Positive imagery and thought processes for kids during isolation.

Excellent for K,1 and 2nd grade!
I am a teacher in NYC and used this book today for guided reading instruction for summer learning students. This is an excellent independent text for level C and D readers and sparked an important discussion once each student finished reading. We discussed health and safety for ourselves and others, and how wearing a mask is a sign of compassion and service. I am so excited to use this book at the start of the new school year!

Subtle and Effective
My young child has been struggling with wearing a mask. I was looking for a fun picture book to help her understand why one is important, but also book that wasn't too heavy handed. I really like the creativity and imagination in this one, and my daughter loved it. It's a great jumping off point for why a mask is important, without getting too bogged down in the scary stuff.

My Review isn't that helpful I think
It is not really about a mask until the end at the begin it was about a play mask were she can be anything she wants and I am not saying she can't be anything she want with the other mask or without a mask I am just saying that it was a good book.

Not what I expected. Disappointed!
Very disappointed in this book, the only story in the book was about Lucy wearing eye masks and pretending to be a pirate.
