I ordered this beautiful Turtle Ridge backpack to give to one of my sons next Christmas, in 2024, but now that I've seen it live and in person I'm not sure it will make it until then. This backpack is beautiful, in a classic design, made of 100% cotton canvas with real leather trim, and there's quite a bit of leather trim.The straps are padded for comfort, adjustable, and easy to fit for yourself. The hardware, which is beautiful, is recycled nickel-free hardware and vegetable-based dyes and looks as if it might last forever. I love how nicely this is made, with excellent seams, great fabric, and so many pockets.I love the colors of this classic backpack, and the leather is gorgeous. The pack has a drawstring closure with a leather flap over that and stays securely closed. It has a gorgeous rustic, outdoorsy look about it and would be a wonderful gift for anyone, male or female.There's a padded laptop compartment, a key ring, three button pockets, one zipper pocket, two slip pockets, and two pen or pencil slots. I didn't even know if older high school students and college students knew what pencils are any more, but this is evidence that they probably do.I love this luxurious, well made, excellently crafted backpack and would bet good money this will last a long, long time with proper care. It's a perfect unisex backpack, but I know one of my sons would enjoy this and get lots more use from a backpack than I would, so into the Christmas 2024 box it goes.I can't think of any changes I'd want to make to this backpack if I could, and I highly recommend this to anyone who needs a good, heavy-duty backpack for any reason. It would make a wonderful gift for anyone, male or female, and this would make the perfect gift for yourself.

This backpack is so rugged looking and handsome. I love the camel-colored cotton canvas, which is thick, durable and a great neutral color. The genuine leather trim is in a contrasting deep brown color with off-white top stitching and antique brass buckles. You can tell by looking that the trim it is real leather. All these elements look great together and really give this backpack a casual, rugged, handsome overall look. It looks very stylish but also like you're not really trying to be stylish.In addition to looking great, this backpack is packed with bells and whistles that make it incredibly functional, including plenty of pockets and a padded laptop compartment. The pockets have leather flaps that buckle securely. There are zippered pockets and pen/pencil slots inside the main comaprtment, and a drawstring to cinch the main compartment closed (of course it has a buckled leather flap over it as well). and the shoulder straps are adjustable in length. If you carry lots of heavier textbooks or other equipment, say heavier pieces of photography equpment, you might wish it had padded straps, but for my husband's purpose (light travel) it works wonderfully.My husband is an older guy and isn't one to carry a "bag," but he happily takes this backpack on road trips and plane trips. He will eventually take it camping but wants it to get a bit of patina on it first. Right now it looks so pristine and gorgeous that he's not ready to take it out in the woods where there is mud, sticker burrs and smoky campfires. I will definitely be stealing this from my husband from time to time because it is so gorgeous that I want to use it, too.Overall, this is a beautifully made, high quality piece of luggage that is also quite fuctional. It would make an impressive, thoughtful gift or a nice little treat/reward for yourself. You'll use it for years and it will get better looking with age and use, as it develops a patina.

It’s been a while since I purchased a backpack and saw this one available and thought this might make a good choice. Well, I’m happy to report that this is an even better choice for a backpack than I would have expected. It is super good looking in its camel colored canvas and “eco genuine leather” (meaning it has been tanned without the use of harmful chemicals), it is support well stitched and strong, and it has many compartments for putting everything you may need in it. I really like that many of the pockets look like they open with straps, but in fact open with easy-to-open quality brass metal snaps. This makes it very quick and easy to open and close a pocket. The back straps are of course highly adjustable so this should fit pretty much everyone. The large interior pocket also will easily hold a laptop, some books, and even more extra things you may need. There’s no shortage of amount of pockets so you should have no problems with carrying pretty much anything so it’s perfect for a school backpack or for a multi-day trip. There are also pockets designed to hold pens/pencils and smaller items. One thing to note is that this is not the type of backpack that has heavy padding, either in the back of the backpack or on the straps, but I don’t find that to be an issue because the thickness and strength of the canvas insulates the backpack well from my back. I absolutely love this beautiful backpack and can’t wait to use it for my next trip.

This is an outstanding backpack but as I write this review, the backpack price ($108) has increased on Amazon by nearly $40 during the last few weeks. This item sells elsewhere for $60 - $85. That is why I am saying this backpack is overpriced. But even at the higher price, this backpack is a worthy purchase.That said, this backpack is excellent. Very well made and nicely padded for those who wish to use this for a notebook computer. The padding is sufficient for carrying your computer on to a plane, but not sufficient for handing this backpack over to the luggage handlers. Indeed, regardless of what you put into this backpack, it is not designed for use as luggage on a plane as nothing can be secured unless you wish to use zip ties (which will probably be cut by security).The materials are excellent, the build quality is excellent and this is comfortable to wear.
