Perseverance
Almost disabled by arthritic knees and asthma, the then 50 year old author hiked the John Muir Trail, a 211 mile stretch of the Pacific Crest Trail. This is a wonderful evocation of perseverance through hardship, of indecision in the face of possible inability, and of happiness in adversity. Her tolerance and patience are to be commended, especially in view of the way she was treated by the arrogant, begrudging and bullying attitude of her travelling companion who planned the venture but never waited along the trail for the author.

A Good Read
I really enjoyed reading this book, warts and all , I would recommend to anyone . I think Lori is to be commended for walking the J M Trail , & will certainly give me a push to do all the things I would like to do , but thought I couldn't.

Life on the trail
Excellent writing . I felt I was there with her. I've read a few books on hiking and love the comarardary of the walkers.
