Good Introduction to Freestyle Soccer
After viewing some inspiring freestyle tricks on YouTube, I decided to see if a book existed on the subject. On the Amazon site I came across this small book entitled "Freestyle Soccer Tricks". At first glimpse the first few chapters seemed like basic drills for beginners. I am already a proficient juggler, and wanted to learn tricks as opposed to just juggling the ball. However, as the book progresses the drills become more complex. The first of these drills teaches juggling in an organized manner by using certain parts of the body and then listing them in the order they are to be touched. After that the book continues with some popular freestyle tricks that include the Scissor, the Drop, and the Shinny. The graphics in the book are quite colorful, and include side boxes that provide usual tips and common problems associated with each trick. Arrows are used to illustrate the direction of the ball while the people on the page are performing tricks. If you want to see further tricks you can logon to the author's website. So what is this book's targeted audience? Obviously, it is not for an experience freestyle soccer player, but instead for somebody who is just getting started in freestyle soccer. However, later tricks in the book are at the intermediate level, and would be useful in furthering player's skills on the field. Juggling makes controlling the ball second nature, and in turn improves a player's situational awareness on the field.I am surprised there are not more books like this. Freestyle soccer is actually a recognized sport outside soccer. Like gymnastics, it stresses individual creativity. There are now even freestyle soccer competitions, and you can check YouTube to see them. This book is a good starting point for anyone that has an interest in freestyle soccer, or just wants to improve their skills on the soccer field.

Not a bad book for soccer nuts who are into ball control and tricks.
Got this for my son, who is very into soccer and ball skills. The content is more condensed than I expected. But it has good ideas and tricks to try. I guess for this kind of thing, video is better though.
