What a great collection of songs! I grew up listening to the rock music of the 60’s & 70’s, with very little exposure to Big Band music, so I’m amazed at how much I enjoy this CD and how familiar many of the songs are. I must recognize them from old movies, commercials and probably my in-laws’ radio.I’ve always thought of the Beatles beginning the experiment with various sounds on records, pushing the limits of each instrument, but clearly the big bands were already doing that back in the 40’s. These songs have so much energy: a lot of horns of course, great bass, some drums and piano. Several are just instrumentals. Many have vocals – the great leads of the day, and perfect harmonies. Many with a beat to rival any rock n roll tune. Others have a smooth elegance.A couple of songs seem a bit corny but that’s only a reminder that they are from a different era. I wasn’t sure what to expect from CD’s made in the Czech Republic, but the sound quality is impeccable. These recordings are in mono, but I tend to listen to them in the car on my commute, so that’s not a problem for me. 48 songs on two CD’s – what a great value. If this is your only sampling of music from the 40’s, it’s hard to imagine a better choice!

We have enjoyed this CD so much I decided it was important to tell others. 40's music was our grandparents generation but we were recently introduced to it through the satellite car radio and have fallen in LOVE with Big Band music. This CD is BEAUTIFULLY done, the songs picked are delightful, the recordings are fresh and clear and exceptional quality. If your new to Big Band or remembering when you were young than this is the BEST CD to start with. There is a booklet that goes with it to tell you what each original recording is. I have ordered other CD's that are collections of 40's music but they do not have the fun, bright selection or quality this one does. It's companion, More Big Band Magic is just as nice, when you add the two together you have nearly 100 songs to play and enjoy for many happy hours.

Amazing! I love this music. I'm actually "too young " to like this, according to my friends, but I don't care. I love old movies, too. I just feel like I'm somewhere else when I listen to this. This collection hasn't disappointed in the least. The quality is amazing for music of this era. I listen to it all the time. Some complain of not remastered, or mono, but the charm and allure is it's pure form. There's absolutely no audio imperfections.

I want to start off by saying Thank you for the really great memories hearing the music on this CD.. I'm in my early 50's,my older sister is in her late 50's We had older parents, and we would sit on a rainy sunday afternoon and listen to all of the big band era. although you don't hear the "white noise" on the CD like on the old lp's i called my sister (in a different state) and she and i listened to the whole CD without saying a word. When it was done we both were smiling and a few tears were shed, but we really enjoyed it. Thank you so very much, Dianne and Sherry

I love all this type of music and listen to it on Sirius 40's Junction as well. This Cd has it all if you're into that kind of music. I love it! Reminds me of my childhood and the parties my parents and family use to have♥♥♥♥♥

So many of my favorite big band tunes! A wonderful collection.

It really does take you back to those days when the memories come flooding back.Nothing to dislike about it an would definitely suggest it to other people.

Super Old Big Band Swing. Something, what you need , if you like this music. I hear this ower 60 years. Its big!
