Cecil Stoughton is a name that many do not know, yet everyone knows of his work. He was the photographer who captured the famous image of the swearing in of Lyndon B. Johnson on Air Force One, hours after the assassination of J.F.K. That snapshot became iconic the moment it was released; helping to calm a frantic nation. This book gives insight into the lives of the four people who were responsible for that moment (Cecil Stoughton, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson and Lee Harvey Oswald) and several key events leading to it. Stoughton was the first presidential photographer and was responsible for many of the poignant images taken of the Kennedy family during his time in office. An interesting read for intermediate age students to adults interested in or covering U.S. History.
