The width at it's widest is 2 1/2" with the front plate area being 2 1/4". Yes, we are able to send a plate out to you to attach to your item. Recommend having a glue gun handy, it shipped 30mins before it was to be presented to one of my teachers, and had to apply the head back to the body and then buy more things to explain why the package was open... all because it separated during shipping...
