I'm considering purchasing a 2020 macbook air with the new m1 chip. do i need any special adapters/cables to use with this monitor?

The USB-C versions of these monitors (like PA278CV) do support video over USB-C. I have a 2019 Macbook pro working on 2 PA278CV monitors.

Can I daisy chain via DP 1.2 between monitors and usb-c from monitor to computer?

The PA247CV model has a DP 1.2 out next to the USB-A hub for daisy chaining. Its other DP 1.2 and the USB-C with DP 1.2 Alt Mode work as the in port for daisy chaining. The PA328CGV, PA328QV, PA248QV, and PA148CTV models do not support daisy chaining.

what is the brightness?

Brightness will depend on color space setting, srgb will be not as bright as bright as the other wider color spaces. I use a wider brighter color space on location and srgb for editing.

Does this monitor work with a Chromebook?

As long as the Chromebook has USB or HDMI port it should work. Double-check the specs on the monitor to make sure you have compatible ports.
