Great, but one drawback
This is an amazing anvil for the price, nothing has gone wrong so far other than the very tip of the round horn broke off, the square hardy hole perfectly fits homemade railroad spike hardy tools, I believe this anvil is the best for the price.

Great gift for my husbands birthday!
The packaging when delivered could have been in better shape. I had to man handle it and repackage it before wrapping it as a gift. Product was in good shape. (Minor paint defects from shipping)

For the price, not bad.
Overall I'm pleased with this anvil. It's smaller than I had imagined but I didn't really look at a tape measure to figure out how big it would be. The hardened face is basically not hard at all. It's super easy to leave dents and scuffs. The casting was done rather poorly too. There are a ton of bubble holes on the horn and all over the sides. The face also has these dipped impressions all over that look like they were just filled up with weld or something. The surface also came with lots of micro cracks.Overall the quality is pretty terrible. But it's still about 66 lbs of metal and I can use it for what it's intended to do. So it works and it was really cheap for what it is.But yeah, it's not great and I would definitely like to upgrade whenever I can. This is a great starter anvil though and a big improvement from my small chunk of railroad track I was using before.Tldr the quality is relatively garbage but I still recommend this as a starter anvil.

Good anvil but quality could be better
I really like it, and I'm going to be using it soon but the only complaint I have is quality control, the horn is extremely rough, almost like popcorn ceiling but that I can just grind smooth, but the thing that really bothers me is a pretty big chunk just missing off the edge of the plate leaving it very rough, and it was just painted over, I'm going to see what I can do to fix it but honestly I was really disappointed seeing a chunk missing and I'm mildly worried about how strong it actually is, but if anything happens I will update my review.

Nice overall, with caveats
First thing I did when I got this anvil was to clean up the paint on the horn and get down to bare metal. Looks like they painted over it because there's cast swiss cheese under there. So many bubbles and voids in the casting. After a lot of time with a grinder and some flap wheels, it cleaned up okay and most of the holes are gone. Noticed a crack on the face of the anvil right on the edge and running down the side, it's probably 1/2" long. I just marked it and avoid using that spot until I can grind the crack out and fill it with a weld. The two holes needed some cleanup with a file so my tools will fit, but it was just typical casting bits left over that needed to be knocked off. The face isn't hard like a forged anvil would be, but it's flat and hard enough that you can forge with it. Overall, it's not a fantastic anvil, but it's at least worth the money you pay for it.

soft surface
Product was advertised as a Rockwell 40 hardness and it may be. Slight indentations dropping a 1.25 inch ball bearing from about 24inches. Bottom and surface are machined flat so there is no rocking. Casting is OK.I plan on using it for more copper work than blacksmithing so it will work.

Good value, needs dressing
Pretty nice little anvil to be honest. About 2 minutes with an angle grinder and 10 minutes removing all that goofy blue paint. We used a rust converter to give it a coat and it was ready to go.Weve used it a decent bit and its holding up well, its picked up a few dings and dents. Overall holding up as could be expected for the price.
