Mandala Designs by Martha Bartfeld
During my first winter of being both an "Empty Nester" and "home alone", I colored Mandala books until I was blind, and my hands were numb. None of the mandalas were more fun to color more than Martha Bartfeld's, both this book, and her Volumes I and II of similar titles. I was fortunate to speak with her, and receive e-mails from her before her passing, and know the "back story" of the Mandala work in her life! At 90+ years of age, she was still creating "Mandalas" for all the world to enjoy! And there was "Mandala Mondays" where she e-mailed each of us a special mandala to color! This book is for all ages to enjoy activities that unite both the right and left brain hemispheres as you work with, enjoy and color the magical Mandalas of Martha Bartfeld!Darlene from Kansas, the "Land of OZ"

Goof designs
I had wished for the designs to be a bit more like the traditional Buddhist mandalas, but these are a bit more "geometric", if that's the right word. I will say they present you with a nice level of complexity and look very nice when colored. I use Prismacolor pencils and the tooth of the paper grabs the color nicely. Also like that the designs are not back and front on the page. I have a book like that, but color bleeds through if using markers and the pressure of using pencils leave the paper "weak". rendering the design on the opposite side useless.

Zen coloring at a budget price
I had wanted to connect with my inner child while also finding an inner calm. Coloring was always a happy childhood memory, integrating that with focus on sacred geometry seemed perfect! However, every other coloring book with mandalas that didn't seem too overly complex is $10+... and to be honest, I'm not crazy about spending that kind of money to buy a coloring book, let alone to just try some coloring meditation. I could always just print up some designs myself for free. LOL.This is the one coloring book with mandalas that stands alone.. a decent price, and it fell under the 4 for 3 promotion. Perfect! I grabbed coloring books for my kids AND myself and spent about the same as other similar coloring books. As for the coloring, it's been great! The designs are simple enough to "relax into" but complex enough to spend a good amount of time coloring. <3 this..

fun for mom and kids
I bought this to color with my kids. My daughter is 5 and loves to color and my son is 9. I took one reviewers suggestion and make copies for everyone so we can do it again and again. It is relaxing and the designs are beautiful. I could picture these as stain glass windows. My daughter especially loves doing them. She is quite good much better than I am. My son did it once or twice, coloring is really not his thing but he wanted to see if it would relax him. It did and it didn't. It was just nice to have him do something other than a video game.

A Hit with an Elderly Woman
My friend, at 90 years old, finds peace and a certain amount of fulfillment when she colors in these books. It is for her, a form of meditation and relaxation (though if you said the word meditation to my friend, she'd give me her opinion on that). My friend has a vast array of fine point Sharpies that she uses to make beautiful the designs within the pages of this book. This book seemed to have pretty images that were not overly complicated, yet not so simple that she would become bored. I gave her this book as well as "30-Minute Flower Mandalas Coloring Book: Meditation and Relaxation through Coloring."She is already asking for more :)

I really like the mandalas
I really like the mandalas, but would ve liked them printed on only one side of the paper, as colored pencils indent when using them rendering designs on the other side of the paper kind of lumpy.

Mandala Coloring
Patterns are nice, but they are printed on both sides of the pages and are not "tear-out". So, I personally will only get to use about 1/2 of the patterns in the book and have messy edges when I tear them out. I am left-handed, so it is difficult for me to color on them when they are still in the book. But for under $4 it's ok. My kids will probably get to use this book.

I like the open designs
I like the open designs. I bought one for me and one for my 95-year old mother. She absolutely loves these books over the regular adult coloring books. The designs in these are much easier to color. If you want to color and not have all those tiny little places to color, I'd recommend getting one of these books.

Nice designs deserve better quality printing.
These lovely designs are truly inspiring, although the way it is printed causes difficulties. The paper is too light and the designs are printed on both sides so that a person almost has to choose which side of a page to do to avoid bleed through of felt tip and pressure marks from crayons/pencils. The trick is to copy off the designs you wish to do and not touch the book at all. This way the images can be used as many times as you want.
