Has anyone else had luck with a good method to remove the crystal starter? I can't get them out without the crystals literally crumbling.

It does not pop out easily... it's really hard and when you try the entire crystal shatters. Huge disappointment.

Do I need to buy additional items for this, or are all supplies in the kit?

I am not sure.. I would think so .. I got it for my 9 year old grandson for Christmas this year. He lives anything to do with crystals
