I've been trying to recreate my southern mom's homemade biscuits for years and I could never come up with the same light and fluffy texture of her biscuits. I tried dozens of scratch recipes and nothing was quite the same as I remember. These jiffy mixes come as close to perfection as I have found. Plus, they are so simple to make that I can have yummy homemade biscuits anytime. The trick to perfect fluffy layers is to mix the dough just enough to moisten the ingredients. Do not over mix. Flatten the dough with your hands to about 1/2" thick and then fold the dough in half .... repeat 3 or 4 times. Once you have folded and flattened the dough a few times, you can use a biscuit cutter or glass to cut the dough before baking as directed. I have also shaped the dough into a rectangle and simply cut the dough into 6 square biscuits. You get fluffy layered biscuits that are crispy and brown on the outside with a soft flakey center. I use my toaster oven, so we don't have to heat up the whole kitchen. Love, love, love these Jiffy biscuits!

my grandmother would be most disappointed to know i was using a box but i don’t make biscuits that often anymore, don’t usually have buttermilk in the fridge, etc. that all said, these are good! don’t overmix or pat out too thin. don’t cut with a glass, use a cookie cutter or something open at the top. also don’t twist when lifting cutter out; this pushes the layers together & they won’t rise as well. you may reroll scraps but more than once & they get tough. i put foil in my small baking pan & place them closely side by side. watch carefully. great for biscuits & gravy, with chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes & gravy. add a bit of sugar you can use them for strawberry shortcake!

I have always used Bisquick Buttermilk Complete for biscuits and dumplings. I ran out and could only find Jiffy Buttermilk biscuit mix. Not sure what the difference is but the Jiffy mix makes lighter & fluffier biscuits and dumplings. I'm switching to Jiffy from now onMy only complaint (and thus 4 stars) is the envelope containing the mix inside the box is not sealed, just tightly folded over a few times. This likely makes the use by/shelf life shorter for those like me that like to stock up. Not a huge problem, I just won't buy more than I can use in a few months

If you are like me and live alone, or there is just two in your household, these are the perfect size. And Amazon has so many more choices than my grocery store. Very tasty and can be modified to make/use for crust, etc. I am very pleased.

Very disappointed in quality, looks like I was sent boxes that were old, crushed and used!

Although I've been makingbiscuits from scratch for at least 30 years, I thought I'd give this a try. The dough was much to wet with 1/2 c water. Extra four in the amount of at least 1/2 cup or more was required to even touch it, let-alone use a bench scraper or biscuit cutter to cut through without a gob of a mess. With much difficulty I managed to get off work surface and bake. They came out perfectly fluffy/tender with the exterior you would expect. I should mention that I never knead biscuit dough and there was zero chance I could even attempt to knead this dough even if I wanted to.

These are better that the plain ones. There is never any leftovers with these. These are the best for biscuits & gravy for any meal. It's do quick & easy to make.
