50 Years Of Hits

I like old country music. This is a nice, 3-disc collection of George Jones’ hits. Recording quality and fidelity is excellent, especially for recordings this old. If you are new to George Jones music, this is a great way to hear his best for not much money. Definitely recommended.

Why is George Jones so popular, even today? I think it is the range of his vocals, the honesty with which he sings, the two of which are unrivaled in Country Music. Especially the low vocals. Anyone wanting and introduction to the music if George Jones would enjoy this collection, start to finish.

I've always liked George Jones, but never bought any of his music. I bought this triple CD and am so glad I did. It's got all the importance Jones songs, and they sound clear and well produced, like they were re-mastered. My only complaint is that they chose to a version of "A Good year for the Roses" that included Alan Jackson. It's a great version, but I'd like to have had the original as well as the Jackson duet.

You will never find a compilation cd of all George's work.It's just not possible since he recorded so many songs.So instead this collection picks one song from each year,from when he first started out in 1955 up to his recent work at 2004.There are simply too many great hits here to mention but to just hand pick a few,there's his signature song He Stopped Loving Her Today,White Lightning,She Thinks I Still Care,A Picture Of Me Without You,Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes and the very touching ballad Wild Irish Rose-one of my personal favorites.Also included are some of his duets.To name just a few there's Take Me(with Tammy Wynette),Night Life(with Waylon Jennings),Yesterday's Wine(with Merle Haggard) and A Few Ole Country Boys(with Randy Travis)Any greatest hits collection from George is going to be excellent and this one is no different.This collection will suit both people new to George's music and also die hard fans.A must collection either way....

Great album and would have been 5 star save that crystal case was very damaged.
