Very Fast - Perfect for Home Office
As an update, the printer has worked flawlessly for close to 2 years. If I want to print a couple of pages, I can power it up, print, and shut it down in less than 30 seconds total time using a USB cable. That has made it my favorite printer ever. I have owned 3 top rated inkjet printer over the last 10 years. After my last one stopped printing, I decide to really think through what I want in a home office printer. I concluded: 1) Don't really need color - the color on a home printer not really good enough for professional use. Most of the time I presented on a screen with B&W handouts. 2) Didn't want to screw around with ink or paper - which always seem to happen when I wanted to print 3) Wanted fast, the old injet seemed to take 5 minutes of head cleaning before it would print. Right out of the box, my toner cartridge is good for about 2,500 pages which is probably 2-3 years of my usage. I can buy one for this printer that could last me for 10 years. I can also load 250 pages, which is small for a shared business printer but huge for a home. The speed is what I love. I can turn it on and in less than a minute I have my first page printed. The text quality is far better than anything my old inkjet could produce. Hopefully, this printer will last me 10 years.

Great MFP Printer!
I have been looking for a new multifunction printer to replace my 8 years old HP LaserJet printer and my old ESPON scanner. The description of this printer fitted perfectly with my needs, but I was hesitated to pull the trigger due to the negative comments around scanning. I finally saw a price point I liked and decided to give this a try, and received the product in two days. Setting up the printer is easy and simple, and I was able to set it up with my WiFi network in a few minutes without reading the manual. I tried out the printing and scanning functionalities, and they worked great! Printing is fast and quiet. Scanning is surprisingly quick and in high quality. I used to spend tens of seconds to scan one page with my ESPON scanner, and this MFP only took 2 seconds! Wow! I also tried out WiFi printing from my iPhone/iPad, as well as from my iMac and MacBook Pro, and this printer just worked!

fast and good quality printing
HP LaserJet Pro MFP M426fdw PROS: fast and good quality printing, scanning and faxing, low price CONS: not fully compatible with Windows 10 We've been using this for about 3 weeks and all is going well. We use it for printing letter size documents and envelopes. We also use it for faxing. We don't use it for scanning, but did set that up and tested it and it works well. Our previous machine was also an HP MFP and it served us well for about 8 years. I have high hopes this HP will also work well for a long time. The first unit we received from AMAZON had a very loud squeak whenever we ran documents through the ADF. I contacted HP for support and they offered to send a refurbished unit for no charge. The replacement unit came in about two days and I just used the same box to pack up the defective one and ship it back. HP even paid for the shipping. KUDOS to HP for their support. Note for Windows 10 users: This machine was apparently meant to go with Windows 7. It is compatible with Windows 10, but with some limitations. The software that is installed with the included CD (or downloaded from HPs website) will not completely install. That means there are some applications that Windows 7 users can use to configure the fax which will not be available on Windows 10. This is not a disaster as you can configure the fax from the control panel on the printer. The machine also has a website inside itself that allows you to set up the scanner. Do yourself a favor and go the HPs website and download the user manual before you begin to set it up - you'll find that very helpful. update 11/16/2016 - I just tried two sided printing and at first it wanted me to do it manually (print one side and then you re-insert paper and print the other side). Luckily, I found it was just a setting that you have to change to turn on the automatic two sided printing. In Control Panel>Devices and printers, select printer properties>Device Settings - select "Installed" for Duplex unit.

FIVE STAR ALL THE WAY
I ordered on Friday and received it the next day, and arrived in pristine condition. I bought it primarily for moderate printing and the fact that is Google Cloud Ready. I prefer LAN network rather than wireless; however, it does both. I attached to the network and plugged it in. The setup came up, to choose language and country. I used the screen to set the IP Address rather than use DHCP. I went to my computer's Chrome web browser and did all the tweaking so I wouldn't have to use the small screen. I exclusively use Gmail and Gsuite on my iPhone and my devices. I set up the Google Cloud computing before I even installed the application on my PC (Windows 10). I also set up HP e-print at that time. I had my son-in-law test e-print 2100 miles away, worked perfectly. I also discovered it prints both sides without refeeding any paper. I printed a document from Gsuite on my computer which was perfect. I hadn't set up a printer on my iPhone before, so I started to look for instructions, it was already there. Printed perfectly. I finally installed it on my PC and printing, of course, was flawless, so was scanning to a network drive.

A dream come true
I solemnly that I am not receiving any sort of benefit from this review...I just really love this printer. Just now I printed concert tickets wirelessly from my iPhone and it made me really happy. It also reminded me to write this review! Here are the features I like/use the most for my home business (and a little bit of personal use): -easily scanning receipts wirelessly but directly to my receipts folder for my small business bookkeeping (the ADF is fantastic!) -wirelessly printing super quickly from my MacBook Pro when I'm working in the next room -making copies quickly and easily for my piano students -double-sided printing -power-saving mode where it sleeps most of the time but turns on really quickly when I need it to print/scan/copy Some small difficulties I've had with the copy function are that the little touch panel gets in the way sometimes when I'm trying to copy a large book, and if I don't hold the music very closely to the glass, part of the copy comes out blurry. But it's a small price to pay for the speed and efficiency I get from this machine. The only trouble I had with printing was at the beginning-the first few times I tried to print wirelessly, the computer wasn't communicating with the printer and it wasn't saving my wifi password for some reason. But I just kept entering the password (using the help function through the printer help site in safari) and eventually it just started working and hasn't stopped since. Before I had a Canon printer/scanner/copier, the Pixma MG8120B. It was extremely slow to print and make copies, or even turn on. Sometimes it literally took about 2 minutes just to wake up from hibernation mode or copy one page. When you have piano students who only have 30 minute lessons (and start exploring your house if you disappear into the office for a long time), every minute counts!!!

I Hate This Printer
It must be embarrassing to work for HP. Their printers are such junk. Every time I have ever bought one, I swore I would never buy one again. Unfortunately, I didn't keep my promise to myself and I bought this hunk of junk. Half of the time when I try to print, something goes wrong with it. So what do I do? I go through the routine of trying to restart it. If that doesn't work, I uninstall it and then reinstall it. Usually, that means going out to HP and getting a new copy of the driver. Now I could understand this happening occasionally. But I have only had this printer for one year and I bet I have had to do this a dozen times. Join me in my promise to myself never to by another HP printer for as long as I live. I have never had one wear out on me because I cannot stand it long enough to give it a chance. I get tired of having to deal with the stupid thing's issues. If I sound frustrated, it is because I am. I don't review products. But I am so frustrated that this is the only thing I know to do. If I weren't afraid I would hurt myself, I would go out and buy a bunch of firecrackers and try to blow this piece of junk up.

great all-in-one
This has all the features I was looking for including automatic double sided printing (no need to manually do anything). Basic printing and scanning are easy to set up. Some of the specialized features took a little time to set up so I'll share my experience... 1. Email to print: This is a cool feature for guests who don't want to set up their laptop with the printer or if they don't connect their phone to the wifi (otherwise they'd just use airprint). They just email the specific email address you [email protected] and it prints both the body of the email (if present) and the attachment (if present). I put a label on my printer with the email address so I don't have to remember. 2. Airprint: this was easy to set up and any phone connected to the wifi finds it immediately. 3. Scan to email: This was the trickiest feature to set up. The printer needs an email address for the scan to come from. I was hoping I could use the hpeprint email address I created for the email to print feature, but it won't allow that because it's not a fully functioning email account. Then I thought I will just use my gmail, however this requires disabling many gmail account security features. So I decided to just use a throwaway hotmail.com address and it worked well. So now if I scan to email, the scan comes as a PDF from that hotmail account and is emailed to whatever address I designate.

Pretty much perfect all-in-one device (with only one missing ability/feature)
Great, great, great device! Okay, now the nitty gritty... GOOD: - Printing is fast and can do duplex. Good tray capacity. - Scanning is good too, including using the feeder, and can do duplex. - Can fax (but no duplex... why not??). - Compact. - Nice design. - Wireless works great and very reliable from all my computers (Win 7 PC, Lenovo Win 7 laptop, two MacBook Airs). - Easy to use HP Scan to scan documents to my computer. Can also set up a network folder to scan to. - Many other options that I haven't really tried yet. - Prints from my iPhone (with apps that support Air Print)! - I rarely use it but it is nice to have copying available. - Price was pretty decent. NOT SO GOOD: - Inability to fax both sides (duplex) is very inconvenient. Total bummer in an otherwise super device! - Only supports 2.4ghz for wireless... would have been great to support 5ghz also. Maybe in a future iteration. - Expected, but you don't want to scan old photos with this device, even with the flatbed scanner. NEUTRAL: - Obviously, these companies make most of the money off these printers/all-in-ones by selling expensive toner cartridges. Mine is still on the first one with modest use at home and in my home office (I work full time from home). - No color printing, but I guess they have a model that does do it, but the toner cost will increase too I would imagine. Overall: Awesome device, best printer I've ever bought/owned, and going strong without any issues after one year of use.

Amazing Amazon discounted price....
I was looking at this printer @ Costco / Staples - both were hundreds of dollars more - glad I tried Amazon also saved $250 with tax... The printer is great - the ultimate decision is if you want colour or not - this model does have a colour version - I didn't need or want the extra cost. Its for a small business and personal use. Its extremely quick, great quality, easy to setup, easy to send fax or scans to a laptop. Overall the entire printer is excellent - added a thumbnail usb key that even let me put the over back on - which is great saves all prints on USB if you ever have to reference it. The only negative I have had was the top loading feeder tray - scanning or copying - new paper goes through without a hitch, if you are putting 10-20 used pages with folds etc through it seems to grab multiple pages at once...so for scanning multiple items 10+ its not great unless its all fresh paper. Otherwise hands down cheapest quality laser (any) multi function printer...dont waste your money on anything but laser - its the best per price page you can do and count on.

Possibly the best printer for small business
Possibly the best printer for small business. The product is well-made and arrived from Amazon as described. At this price on Amazon, this product is basically unbeatable compared to other brands. I note that the built quality of this HP printer is quite clearly better than that of other brands in this price range. Functionally, the printer is very easy to set up. I set it up as a network printer for both my Macintosh and also Windows 10 PC. Just select your router and key in the password on the printer's touchscreen and it will connect automatically to the router and network. Then, all you need to do is to install the HP application on your Mac and PC and they will link up with the printer on the network automatically and you can start printing right away. The print quality appears very good. The speed is quite fast too (for me personally), though the printing sound is on the loud side. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase. Very highly recommended.
