Nice book
I always wanted to know more about Fourier series - having encountered them indirectly in other disciplines - and this book did the job. The math was college-freshman level; there were lots of examples and helpful diagrams; and the text explained things very well. Along the way I learned about odd and even functions, and a new (to me) definition of orthogonality. After the first 100 pages, however, the material became more esoteric and was more like pure math. But near the end there were applications to heat flow and vibrations.

Headache material
First edition, relatively inexpensive book. I found a few typos in the first few pages- doubtlessly they were corrected in later printings. It seems like it would be a good book, if the typos didn't make the early equations unintelligible. If this book was recommended to you, buy a later edition.Found myself integrating derivatives in an attempt to trace where the new variable came from - another suspected typo - and not so much time actually learning about the Fourier Transformation.

Very very good one
Can't say anything wrong about this book. Initially I bought this because I wanted to get a little more out of the PDE. But man, after the reading the first 2 chapters, I was hooked on the subject. The most interesting matter happens in 3, 4 and 5 and after that it gets really really good when he talks about Bessel functions and Eigenfunction methods in the last 2 chapters.I would say this is an excellent book on the subject matter. This is one of those extremely rare books that when you complete a page and flip, you will never have to flip back to recall. The explanation sticks to your mind perfectly.I think that I have understood many other topics well once I learned a little bit about fourier analysis. Some of the ideas such as convergence of fourier-bessel functions and almost every topic in chapter 9 is very well presented and useful in many other classes where particular books skip (or save pages) on these vital topics.

Excellent for a Second Look at Fourier
A fine book to read if you have some experience in the subject. The best part is the applications I n the last chapter. The detail and methodology helps get the idea across.

If you find cheaper and better, go and buy it.
I am a MSc student at Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering. Working on the field of Signal Processing so Fourier Series and Fourier Transforms are very important for me. This is why I ordered this book. I quickly had a look at the book. Easy to understand translation, understandable mathematical explanations. So it is like having a Mustang GT for $3.99. I recommend this book to engineers who are related with Fourier Series and Fourier Transforms(book itself doesn't deeply talk about Fourier Transform but it constructs a base for it)."#1 Best Seller in Functional Analysis Mathematics" is a well deserved title for this book.

Well Written and Clear
Great book for Fourier Series. Well-explained for a topic that has the potential to be confusing depending on the angle the author chooses to approach it. Each book seems to have a different approach and I like how this book doesn’t jump to conclusions without a thorough explanation.

Provided that you do have a good grasp on math this book is excellent as it ...
Fourier Transforms are fundamental to understanding many phenomena (such as signals) in science. You will not be able to understand any of the ideas and the reasoning without a very decent and solid grasp of math. Provided that you do have a good grasp on math this book is excellent as it points out not only why Fourier Transforms are needed, but also how to implement them.

The BEST book on learning Fourier at Degree level, i would have given it 6 stars!
* PhysicalThis book has 336 printed pages on good quality paper. It has b&w text and graphs.* Target Audience; H.N.D, Undergraduate, Graduate, Masters? In my humble opinion, is for a Math or Electrical and Electronic Engineering, second year, or Mechanical Engineering as required.* What's in the book?(1) Trigonometric Fourier Series, (2) Orthogonal Systems, (3) Convergence of Trigonometrical Fourier Series (4) Trignomentrical Series with Decreasing Coefficients (5) Operations on Fourier Series (6) Summation of Trigonomentrical Fourier Series (7) Double Fourier Series. the Fourier Integral (8) Bessel Functions and Fourier Bessel Series, (9) the Eigenfunction Method and its Applications, Answers, Bibliography, Index.* What's the best bits?If you're doing an Electrical and Electronic or Electronic and Computing degree, you will only need chapter 1 and 2 and perhaps 3 to give you fantastically clear comprehension about basic Trignometrical Fourier Series. I have looked into applying Fourier series techniques in several books but this is THE clearest explanation I have ever read. And this chapter on its own is worth the book price. I mean it. I read these first two chapters and in four hours I grasped it clearly, it is amazingly clear with this book. After brushing up in a Stroud Engineering book (any year) about the Integration - by - parts formula structure. The further mathematical chapters are all clearly explaining too. Its feature has uniformly great and really good explanations. I am continuing to explore these topics and there's a lot of repetition so when you grasp some, you grasp a lot more than you think your doing. This book is EXTREMELY helpful. I recall that when I was an undergraduate, my first lesson at the start of my second year was three - hours of this exact topic. Even the student who would receive a first, failed this topic first time around. We had to do this differently. So don't be worried about this initial complex nature. I am going to reread this to firm up my comprehension.* SummaryThis is THE best book for Trignometrical Fourier Series within Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree level studies. You only require the first chapter to conquer this if this is your degree, and it's really worth buying this book for the first chapter alone. The rest of the book is beautiful to explain this technique further for a Math degree.

UNEQUALED, get this book do not waste time on internet/other books.
Read the first 2 chapters really carefully and work out all the examples, do the work and you will finally understand Fourier Series, expansions. If you have interest and time, all the rest is golden too.The book material is gold. The binding is bad, pages constantly falling out.

provides a good background as to why
This book is difficult but, provides a good background as to why, when and how we can represent function as Fourier series or as a Fourier transform etc etc. In site is also provided as to why and how they fail. I would not recommend students bothering with this book though. There are many more applicable skills that you could be learning.
