SKETCH OF THE HISTORY OF ‘F’ BATTERY ROYAL HORSE ARTILLERY

This is a great little book. It may not be large, but it contains a great deal of information about the creation of one of the most historian Batteriss, in the Royal Horse Artillery, up to the early 1900's and a valuable window into the old East India Company Army from the early 1800's to that changes made after the Indian Mutiny. It then tracks the battery history in the late Victorian era, with references to other British Army units of that era. It stops well before WW1 and then the Honourary Title 'Sphinx' was awarded in the 1920's and a newer history of what is now F )Sphinx) Parachute Battery, Royal Horse Artillery, needs to be written to cover the last century of the Battery's story. Having been privileged to visit and help the modern Battery learn more about its history, this little book is well worth a read and I recommend it.
