Woodstock W1109 Broset Precision Stop Block

This stop block isn't quite what I expected. First I had to put it together with no instuctions, that wasn't too tough. But,in the discription it ranged from 1 1/2" to 2 1/2". After putting it together I put it on my 1 1/2"fence and it wouldn't tighten down. I modified it though so that it would. Not the quality I expected.

I should have read the previous reviews. They are correct. It’s very poorly made doesn’t fit 1 1/2 fence like it says it does. Since it doesn’t fit the fence I have to modify it to make it work and even then it’s to flexible and inconsistent. Now I have to start over again with something new.

As stated - "not the Beismeyer" . Mine came with a crooked hairline on the site glass ( which the seller is working on). The magnification on the site glass is too much, you loose track of what increment you are on. I had to modify. Added a 1/4" piece of plexi and scratched a hairline . Now I like this thing!

On the money walk up to the miter box no tape, no pencil, no problem, set the guide cut the wood, good to go. Do that fifty times a day and you saved $30.00 easy. If your making raised panel doors you have 200 parts or more on 40 doors, boom you saved $80.00 and they have to be dead on to be perfect. There is no other way.

The item was delivered on time, but that's about the only good thing to say about it. I am the owner of a commercial millwork and cabinet shop and have always used Biesemeyer fences and stops for 30 years. My previous fence stop was destroyed in a recent move to a new location, and I found out that Biesemeyer no longer produces this type of stop. So, I ordered this one. It is useless out of the box; the bolt holding the contact piece to the rest of the stop does not secure the piece from moving so that once adjusted, it will move and be very inaccurate. The know used to tighten the stop was stripped out room the factory, and the magnified sight plates make lining up the stop with the tape almost impossible. The only redeeming point was that I was able to use the parts to make a stop. I took it to a friend with a tig welder and made a new stop from the pile of junk that I got, put different sight glasses on it made from some left over plexiglass and bought a new knob. All in all, this product design is so bad that the manufacturer should be class action sued... Since my son is a lawyer, I just might consider it.

While I am going to keep and use this stop, I wish i has spent the extra $60 to get the much higher quality Biesemeyer stop. This model is many pieces held together with a few blots, all of which can easily become loose and throw off any accuracy. I would recommend this stop for work with a tolerance of +/- 1/16". Or if you don't mind welding the 3 metal pieces together and gluing the plastic hairline cursor in place, this could be reliable and accurate. Surprise surprise, made in China
