U Boats of the Second World War: Their Longest Voyages

A good informative book well illustrated
A good informative book well illustrated, well written easy to read covering the long range boats of the submarine arm which operated in the Indian ocean and alittle further.I have enjoyed this book - 3/4 way through it as I write this , the author is well known and has a track record of writing good material and this one is no exception. What is worth mentioning is the positions adopted by both the Germans and the japanese and how they danced around each other and were ultimatley restricted by both diatnce , culture , translation and a command structure which ws rather fractured and tainted by the differences which could not be over come. The supply, trade , transport and deployment issues are explored against the changing fortunes of both sides, their attitudes and expections.good read IMo.
