It's a wonderful movie really

I am not a big fan of Ray Bradbury. I've read some of his work and it's ok, but not really my taste in sci-fi. But this movie based on his work is just delightful. It's a lovely fantasy about dreams, friends, and having hope for the future.The actors chosen were all perfect in their parts. Really great artists who brought their A-game to the fascinating and quirky roles they undertook. Some extra spicy goodness was added by the entire rest of the cast. What a well chosen group!If anyone involved in this movie's production ever sees this... thanks guys and gals!I bought this to replace my very worn-out VHS tape. My husband and I laugh and enjoy this movie every time we watch. And now we can easily pause to rewatch our favorite parts!

I had been looking for this DVD for years: unfortunate that Disney had made the film available only through the Movie Club. I thank the seller for providing me with a movie with many of my favorite actors!The classic Ray Bradbury story was released in 1998 with Edward James Olmos, Esai Morales, Clifton Gonzalez Gonzales, Joe Mantegna and the venerable actor Gregory Sierra (who was replaced by Olmos in Miami Vice, coincidentally). The cast is stellar in film of good clean fun as five men find a suit that makes their dreams come true one summer night in East L.A. Each actor shines in his role: I won't tell you who they portray, just enjoy these masters at work.I applaud Disney for making a film that shows Hispanic Americans in a positive light without any gang, drug nonsense and negativity: just a movie that coiluld take place anywhere with anyone playing these characters. It's another feel-good Disney classic that chases the blues away! Magic!!!

This brought so much nostalgia to me and my siblings!! Thank you for helping us share this loved childhood memory with our children. My abuelito showed me this movie as a young child and it has always held a special place in my heart. Thank you!

Great movie

A bit out-dated but still a cute story. Sorta reinforces the old nostrums and stereotypes about Mexican Americans in California. A sweet story with a redemptive message. Olmos alone was worth it.

I had this movie in VHS and was looking for a modern format. I love the optimism and the silliness of this movie. My favorite characters are the philosopher Villanazul ( Gregory Sierra) and the down and outer Vamanos (Edward James Olmos). Perfect flick when you want to feel good.

I am stunned and saddened that the "manufacturers" have discontinued this priceless gem of entertainment. Why? Is it because there is no swearing? No provocative sexuality? Is the story too much "good clean fun" for today's audiences? I am gladly paying the premium price for this DVD, and promise to any and all reading this review, that, kids or no kids, you will share as "Wonderful" an evening with this stellar cast of friends as they take turns wearing the "Wonderful" Ice Cream Suit.

The best pictures are either in your head or on radio; transfer a well-loved story to the screen and there's plenty of opportunity to disappoint people. The story in this film will probably appeal most to someone who hasn't read the short story.It was like cheap ice cream; not the real thing. There were so many things that I wish had been done differently that I won't mention for the sake of brevity, but even the suit wasn't how I imagined it. It was 'over the top'; a ridiculous confection, not a real suit. Likewise the characters were also over-played and the whole thing lacked the mystery and longing that you feel in the real story. A bit of a wasted opportunity. No wonder it went straight to video.
