It's a mini-freezer!
I bought three of these for a Lifetime 77 quart cooler (which is an insanely great cooler - way better than a Yeti!), hoping they would keep our food cold for at least 4 or 5 days of our 10 day camping trip. Well, they lasted 9 days before I had to buy ice!!I actually should have only used 2 of these in the cooler, though, because these are incredible! However, it's critically important to properly prepare your food and cooler -- pre-chill or freeze food & drinks ahead of time and pre-chill your cooler for at least a day or two (just throw a couple of bags of ice in your empty cooler). You need to properly pack your cooler, too - Youtube has videos on this. I put some frozen meat on the bottom and it stayed frozen right up until I had to put in ice. This sounds weird, but it was almost inconvenient because I had to remember to take out meat to thaw! I jammed in a container of sour cream nearer to the bottom, right next to one of the ice packs and it froze solid!! I had lunch meat that also froze solid - and it was on the top! Definitely should have just used 2 ice packs and put the third in my drink cooler. The key with these ice packs is to FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. They need to be put in a freezer that is at -5 degrees, which most kitchen fridge freezers can't get to or can't stay at consistently. These need to go into a deep freezer or they just won't freeze solid. And, these things don't freeze overnight - they need 2-3 days at least (I put them in for a week!).Definitely buying at least one more for me and will be buying these as Christmas gift for my kids that camp!

Just chilling…
Great ice alternative, well made, great fit and perfect for larger coolers and longer trips.

Kept ice solid for a 5 days and the freezer cold for 7
I used 2 of these in a Canyon Cooler that is kept in the back of my Outback. I used 1 twenty pound bad of ice. Meat that I wanted to keep frozen was placed on top of these before the ice went in. I also carry a large insulated water container with ice for drinks in this cooler. That ice in the water container remained intact without clumping together or evaporation. On day 5, the ice in the cooler started to melt a little, but remained mostly intact. Internal cooler temperatures ranged from 32 degrees to 45 degrees depending on the heat of the day. FYI, I had a smaller yeti with a smaller Arctic ice pack at the same time. The ice in it melted within 3 days. These are huge and heavy ice packs. They work great on long trips. I would recommend them.

Thaws too fast
I was hoping the size would help it stay frozen longer but that wasn't the case. Left it in the freezer for almost a week and then took it out for it's maiden voyage...inside a heavy insulated bag (in the trunk) while I ran a few errands. Normally when I leave a grocery store I put all the cold food into insulated bags with a several small ice packs. That way I don't worry about dairy items, etc getting too warm before I arrive home. This thing never left that insulated bag and yet when I got home a few hours later it was already half-way thawed, I could hear the liquid sloshing around inside. Much smaller packs have stayed colder than this thing. Very disappointing, had high hopes for it. Design looks really good, love the built in handle, seems very sturdy. If only the solution would stay frozen.

Best purchase Ever!
These are worth every penny! They literally can keep things frozen, and can freeze what wasn't frozen. I go shopping for my dads groceries every week. I put these at the bottom of my ice chest and load the frozen food on top of them, and the the refrigerated food on top of the frozen food. I go to several different stores, so need the food to stay fresh. So far I've only used them for a two day period once. Where I needed to leave my groceries in the car while spending the night at my sons. Frozen was still frozen! These are the BEST!

It's Good...
I purchased the 28F and the 5F models. The 5F actually freezes closer to 0F... so it may have been a poor mix. While it doesn't sound like a big difference, I keep my freezer at 0F to 5F for energy savings. This model really does not freeze in my freezer and defeats the purpose of phase-change materials since I won't benefit from the latent heat potential. I think I would need to set my freezer to -5F to make this model work. The 28.4F works best and seems to freeze at the rated temperatures. It is most useful for refrigerator applications and this probably is the best all-round model. It works excellent and I recommend this to anyone wanting the most versatile model.I did not test the warmer 33.8F rated model. I think it would be great for a cooler.

Lasted 4 days camping!!!
We were going camping for 4 days and I have a 1year old so I needed to pack milk, and needed it to stay cold the entire time. I bought 2 of the X-Large and 2 Medium sizes. The X-Large went into our large-capacity cooler and the 2 Mediums went into the smaller cooler. I followed the instructions and put them deep into my chest freezer for a few days prior until they were frozen solid (took about 2 days for that to happen in my freezer) and then pre-cooled my coolers with other icepacks the night before. Everything that sat directly on top of the X-larges froze solid! I was shocked at how cold it was. The milk had ice crystals in it the first day. By day 4 it was still cold! I probably could have gone another day if need be!

Starts great, doesn’t last
This product was awesome to start, but faded pretty quickly, within 10 uses the packs cooling ability drastically went down. They won’t even stay frozen for a few hours, and even in an industrial freezer they take days to freeze. Would not buy again, there are other better products on the market
