My "go to" card stock for Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, any occasion!
Every year I use these to individually watercolor cards for family and friends. Each card is different, based on something that has happened or some event that signifies that person's year to remember. I've been doing this since 2008 and this has grown from just a few for family members to over 75 individual cards at Christmas. I am both honored and flattered that almost everyone (even those who are not sentimental "savers") have a collection of all the cards I've done for them. This size is perfect to fold in half, paint and slip into a standard small card envelope. I know it's supposed to be for students, but I've found Strathmore 400 card stock to be perfect for cards for any occasion. It holds the paint well, is very forgiving for errors and lasts and lasts (well, I can only vouch for cards I painted in 2008 and the still look great 18 years later!

Good quality paper
Just learning to watercolor. and this paper is good quality. The thickness keeps it from curling and absorbs as it should. Good size pad.

This is a great watercolor 12 x 12 pad
This is a great watercolor 12 x 12 pad. I do love this brand for my watercolor paintings and washes, however this is not the best paper there is and it will NOT hold up to lifting or scraping. I know it says it will, but trust me, it doesnt. As long as you know this, you will be fine with this paper. I have used Strathmore paper and Arches paper for many years and it has held up beautifully, however please know this is student grade and not pro grade like arches. I use it mainly for quick gift watercolors, testing out new ideas before putting it on pro paper like arches, testing out different effects and in my watercolor paint parties I hold twice a month with my girlfriends. This is a great paper if you are just starting out in watercolors due to its price. I prefer the pads as you dont have to worry about taping it to a board. Getting your painting off the pad once you have painted it and it has dried is very simple using your pallet knife or even a butter knife. Make sure your painting is dry before removing it off the pad, this keeps the painting stretched and flat.

A lot of ways to use it
I bought at least two of these. I sketched the picture first that I eventually drew on material for a quilt.

handmade greeting cards
This is good quality watercolor paper. I am using it to make handmade greeting cards. I just fold them in half and it makes a nice small size for a custom card.

Strathmore watercolour paper has always impressed me because of the quality of their products and the good quality/prize ratio. This is also the case here. This pad has a great size for beginners, not too big or too small. The tone and texture of the paper are excellent. I use it mostly for mixed media, mostly working with acrylics, and I do nasty things to the paintings (rubbing, scratching, wiping, etc). Yet, the paper resists almost everything and it is very forgiving. I always gesso the paper before working on it. Perhaps not as good as other brands, but this is one of my watercolour paper pads staples.

Paper is good but the annoying thing about this book is the pages fall out the minute you turn the page!

I love the square dimensions and the large canvas space this sketchpad provides. This is my go-to sketchpad. I've purchased it several times and I love using it for acrylic painting and for arts and craft adventures! High quality paper. Highly recommend!

Perfect size for travel. Nice, heavy-weight paper with a matte finish. Takes water well without coming apart, divoting or buckling. Watercolours lay well on the surface, and washes are well absorbed without the paper going mushy. I've used fine line markers on this paper as well, and the lines don't bleed or blob at the ends. Note: My review is with respect to the product only. At the time I purchased this product (back in May 2017) the price on Amazon.ca was very competitive, and it was offered as an "add-on" using Prime shipping. The price has gone up since then, and shipping appears to be no longer "Prime".
