Huge growth
I received five starts in March 2024.One was tiny. Three sprouted it took a long time to grow. I live in Pacific Northwest. I wanted to plant them outside in October, but they were too small. Now March 2025 they are huge with leaves approximately 5 to 6 inch on all three. I plan to put them in partial shade under the tree and use them for compost or chop and drop. I did fertilize them in February and they responded well. I would buy them in January if you plan to plant them outside in the fall. I don’t know how they do in warmer climates.

Not real happy-yet
Received these wrapped in foil. Very hot day (if you live in NC, you know what I'm talking about). It's been 17 days since planting and only 1 has come up. I'll update if the others sprout. If not, I will contact seller and hope for they'll send me more.Update: 7/21/24It's been over a month and only 3 in total have come up. Not real satisfied with that number since these cost so much. I will reach out to the seller and see if they can and will send me more. I'll see.

Nice and thick root cuttings. No sprout after a month.
6/29/2020: Three root cuttings received way before the delivery time promised. I will update the progress here. Look good so far.6/29/2020: after soaking for six hours I planted the three root cuttings in three pots filled with miracle grow organic potting soil and watered till the water drained from the holes at the bottom of the pots. Placed on tiles at a bright corner that does not receive direct in light.7/16/2020: almost two weeks after planting, I still don’t see any sprouts. I didn’t dig to see if there is any root development because I don’t want to disturb it. I keep my rating for four weeks.7/24/2020: I still don’t have any green sprouts! I moved the pots from partial sun area to full sun a few days ago and places a tray under them to water from bottom. I hope I see something before the summer as it has been almost a month since I planted these. If the seller reads these reviews I would appreciate note on How long it will take for these to root and grow leaves. I read that it’s very hard to get rid of comfrey roots. I don’t have success to sprout them :).8/27/2020: my first batch of three root cuttings never grew. I contacted amazon and was refunded. I ordered another five root cuttings now to give it another chance. Looks like this seller is the only blocking 4 provider. I hope I have better luck this time.11/17/2020. I ordered a second batch of five. This time all of the root cuttings sprouted even the smallest one. The key is to not over water it I think. Once a week if the temperature is not in 90s should be ok it took more than a month for them to sprout as well so be patient. I changed my rating to five stars.

What!
I wasn't much impressed with the tiny little sticks that I was sent! I didn't think they would sprout at all. But, hey I'm a gonna try them anyway. It took a while and 2 out of the 3 sprouted and started growing! I checked the third one and it has roots but no foliage yet. So yes, I'm pleased.

Awesome stuff!!
It grows great along the fence line! I'm gonna split it into more plants in the future. I use comfrey as fertilizer for all my other plants! It looks great where it grows as is!!

Great Comfrey Root Cuttings.
I received the root cuttings on April 6, 2014 and didn't plant them until 3 weeks or so after receiving them. I soaked them well and planted them in a 3 gallon planter about 4" deep in good organic potting soil. The 2 started coming up last week and the last one poked itself up yesterday. I will transplant them in their home in the ground in a week or so.Thank you so much for the great root cuttings. If I find some more room in the yard, I will buy more from you.

SCAM!
Rip - paid almost $100 for these and not a single one sprouted. Seller wouldn’t even respond to messages. Do not purchase!!

All 5 cuttings leafed out and are growing
These cuttings were different sizes, 1 very small, about the size of a baby's pinkie, 1 a little bit larger, and three cuttings taken of a thicker, perhaps 3/4" to 1" diameter, and about 1 inch long root, cut in half lengthwise. Directions were in tiny print on a 1" x 2 1/2" label stuck to the aluminum foil that the roots were wrapped in. I followed the directions, planted all five in identical soil. Because it was winter, I would not be able to plant them outside, and therefore put them in an unheated room to prevent them from growing too fast. The two largest root pieces sprouted first after only two weeks; the next one took about 3 weeks. After about 5 weeks, the smallest one showed some growth. After about 6 weeks, I checked on the other small cutting by removing some of the soil, and low and behold, there was a tiny white nubbin. It's now three weeks later, and all five cuttings are thriving. So I'm happy with my purchase.
